I think VCD's were probably more popular than at least half of the formats in the "Other formats section."

Many of our LD and DVD players will play VCD's. Heck i have three video game systems that will (Saturn, 3DO, CDi)

I don't have a ton of VCD's; nor do they likely inspire many of us like LD's and other formats do, but i still think they would be worth adding a subforum for in "other formats."

Let me know what you think and sorry if this has been discussed before.

Low PQ of the format would be one reason, another is the abundance of bootlegs.

I do have some VCD's myself and not all of them are unlicensed bootlegs.

I have some official studio releases as well. They aren't half bad!

I love VCD for the cheap access it gave me to some of the content I wanted in the '90s. Even back then though we scoffed at its crappy picture and sound quality. Not something I would ever collect, purely a utilitarian choice at a time when Hong Kong DVDs were $50+ a piece here

Nice 3DO.
BTW, that video add-on you have there can also work for the FZ-1. They made a specific one for the FZ-1 but this one still fits and works if you take off the case so it can fit.

There are vastly too many VCDs to ever document properly, %99 of which are pirate. I think that’s the main reason. The other formats are potentially perfectible. You’d never even approximate a database of VCD.

Interesting! I do have an FZ-1 as well so that's good to know :)

How does one even determine if a vcd is legit?

I bought one knowing it was a bootleg for my mom many many years ago because it was better than buying another the tape and I couldn't find a download. It was some sappy tv movie set back in time.

I honestly don't know, I've seen some with holograms but like that matters from a product coming from China, India or another asian country.

I would be interested in seeing movieCD or VCD here, but barring that, is there any site that will allow me to build a collection like I can here?
