Recently snagged one of these on the cheap thanks to it being sold for parts (only thing wrong is that it's missing the front control wheel).

Anyone have any experience with this one? I'm curious of the quality of it.

Also; if anyone knows where to get a replacement wheel that'd be fantastic

If its working its one of the best players ever made 8-)

Sorry I just feel that way about working players now, there have been a lot of broken questions here recently.

Maybe a lower quality player for the age but if you have all the scalers etc you will or should get a nice image.

I'm just excited to upgrade from my Denon player I've had since I started collecting.

It should be here in a couple weeks, but hopefully it works. At the very least I can use it as a travel model.

Looks to be nearly identical to the CLD-980/1070/1080/V2400 mechanically speaking.

Pros:
One of the few single-sided players with optical out
Service manual is available

Cons:
Recombined composite output
White rail that is used to move the pickup always cracks (I have only seen one player out of four or five where this actually was a problem)

I don't think this would be an upgrade over any Denon player, but having two players is certainly an upgrade from one. As far as the knob assembly, it is part VXA1574. Pioneer says VXA1904 can be substituted.

Does anyone have one of these they'd be willing to sell for $20?

I see one on eBay for $40, but that's over double what I paid for the player.

That or if anyone has a .STL or could make one, I would appreciate it so I could 3D print one.

Worked the guy down to $20, it seems like the Laserdisc people on eBay are very friendly and are willing to work with customers on their prices.

Can't wait to get this player up and running, I know it's not the best player but I'm excited to have a second one.

I paid $12 for the player, and $20 for the knob- something does add up there

Glad to see you bought it. It is nice seeing these players getting cleaned up and put back together. It is a good model to learn on as well.

Personally, I'm quite fond of these "entry-level" players.

FYI the CLD-31 is an Elite model of this player with what appear to be minor power and audio upgrades and an extra S-Video output.

Thanks for the extra information! At the very least having a S-Video port will help slightly with digitizing my obscure Laserdiscs, something my Denon LA-2100 doesn't offer.

Got the player in my hands, works nicely. Tray wouldn't go back in after ejecting, but after removing it's top it was just a copy of MiB stuck above the tray unit.

After pulling it out, it seems to work just fine! Now I just have to wait for a replacement knob from Malaysia.

Final update; knob showed up from Malaysia finally; fit like a glove.

Another player saved from being scrapped!

It's interesting seeing this player as I think for us Europeans it was released as the CLD-1750, a PAL/NTSC capable machine back in the day. Heard good things about it when modified by a UK company called Videotec who fitted their own developed double comb filtered "S" output to it, was always curious about just how well it performed when thus fitted?
