Im just curious, what was the factory warranty time was for say a new Pioneer player was in the day.
12 months? 24 months?

Also what was the story with official Pioneer servicing, when did it stop etc?
How quickly and smooth was it?

Any obscure information or experience id love to hear.

Factory warranty could depend on what country afaik, like most electrical products.
What I mean is if a country's consumer law stipulates such products must have a minimum 12 months warranty (example) then that's what they have to provide, even if the standard warranty (such as provided in another country) is only 6 months.

From what I understand there are various electrical products sold here that would probably have a shorter warranty period in the US. Of course some manufacturers will provide a generous warranty period anyway regardless of what is required by law.

I'm not sure about Pioneer LD players, but other Pioneer products in the past haven't necessarily been high end so I'd be surprised if such items had generous warranties.

I never had a broken LD player, so I never needed to use the warranty (which I think was 12 months back then).

I needed the warranty with a Pioneer amp once, and I had to pack it up and mail it to a service center - there it got repaired,
and shipped back to me.

I never had an LD player serviced by Pioneer but back in the 80s/90s we had these places called Appliance Stores (Fretter, Highland, Sears, etc) so that’s where you bought it and if it developed a problem that’s where you brought it back to get fixed, even if they just remaned it or sent it out for repair.

I don’t know the warentee period but I’m assuming a year or less. It may be better with Elite than non-Elite.

Denon's warranty for their B Stock LD players was 90 days.

I just found a Pioneer USA warranty card from I think around 1996.

Home Audio and Video Products: One year parts and labor

VCRs: One year parts, 90 days labor

CRT tubes in TVs: Two years parts, one year labor

Microphones, headphones, phono carts/stylus: 90 days parts and labor.

It says to take your broken stuff to a Pioneer repair center and bring your receipt UNLESS the issue is a TV 19" and larger in which case they will send someone to you.

These repair centers aren't probably places set up by Pioneer in a lot of cases but rather electronic shops that are also authorized repair people for other makes.
