Hi Guys, purely for fun here's a little quiz concerning our favourite format. The image below shows the facade of a secondary education academy building the location of which Iam not disclosing; so you may well ask what on earth could this possibly have to do with Laserdisc, well the answer to that is that is there was a definite connection here to the format.

I'm not going to offer any clues just yet as I realise only too well that there are plenty of smart people on here, but should an answer not be forthcoming after a considerable period I shall chuck in a few hints if necessary, sorry no prizes here but see how you go!

Looks more like a data centre than a secondary education building!

Wild guess, it's either something to do with Phil Collins or it's where MUSE was invented?

Is it where they would receive newly pressed discs for packing? Like a sorting centre or distribution hub.

We have a winner! Well done to edwin240170

Yes the former home of Pioneer Laserdisc Corporation Europe (LDCE) I think Pioneer closed this site sometime during the early 2000s and concentrated all their European operations at their other site in Belgium?

For your efforts a fully rotted copy of a PDO pressed Dire Straits "Live on the Night" will shortly be dispatched to you Edwin! ;)

You are referring to the location on Keetberglaan in Antwerp Belgium, this is where all the LD players arrived from Japan by boat to Europe

"For your efforts a fully rotted copy of a PDO pressed Dire Straits "Live on the Night" will shortly be dispatched to you Edwin!" => I kindly pass on this one as I have a nice non rotten copy ;)

I'm sure the Pioneer PL12D turntable I purchased new back in 1974 came from Pioneer Belgium, judging by the size of that current facility it seems understandable why they didn't need the two places, and surely an element of business would have been lost when the LDCE side ceased about 20 years ago?

As for your shot; I'm afraid I'm stumped at the moment, doesn't look like anywhere in Europe but looks rather more US. Then again wasn't that suggested about the previous picture!

Well I'm completely baffled with this one, the car appears to be leaving the premises of a company by the name of Noevir so I can't find any connection with Pioneer in that name. Thought the surroundings looked more US than any country this side of the Atlantic but that still helps me not, is the clue in the car by any chance?

I can say the address is 200 West Grand Avenue Montvale, NJ 07645. (the 200 on the sign was a huge help)

According to the screenshot I included of an ad in the March of 83 edition of High Fidelity, this is the US location of Pioneer Video, Inc. and Pioneer Artists.

Damn you beat me to that one, I was going to put it up next when I got the chance!

The former location of Encore Entertainment (Laserdisc UK)

Set in the beautiful countryside of rural Worcestershire England, but surely the most unlikely looking location ever for such a business?
