This title is referenced in the intrance credits of Fantastic Planet.

Check out "Light Years" [ID6704VK]
Also by Rene LaLoux !
Glen Close, Jennifer Grey, Christopher Plummer, and John Shea do voiceovers......

Penn and Teller is also in Light years. I wish I could find that somewhere other than youtube.

i think there's a third movie that goes along with these two but I don't remember.

The Terror.

Nearly finished the first season, it's ok but I was personally hoping for less fiction.
Obviously fiction would be necessary for this story but I had no idea it was based on a work of fiction until I looked it up.

They have great releases on DVD from masters of cinema but they are R2 and one of them is stupid expensive now and I'm very
tempted to sell my copy for the stupid money.

How is Masters of Cinema? are they like Arrow and Criterion in their releases?

I believe so, they are really nice but they are R2 so you need to make sure your player will play R2.
Most of all that I've had interest in has been released by Criterion or other companies but these two.

I have those as well. Only Fantastic Planet is on blu-ray. When asked about HD releases of the other two, apparently the DVDs sold too poorly to justify the effort :(

just sat through the THE FLY series again after 20 years or so now (THE FLY (1986) and THE FLY II (1989))
and the first film was actually rather decent, up until it decided to take a flying leap into bad Horror tropes about midway through.

the sequel, however? well... the less said, the better. (Irredeemably Demented Ending...)

Finished watching The Terror S01 & S02.
I liked the first season more but both were interesting and rather different from each other.

Rashomon

Great movie. I can't really say anything that hasn't been said but it's a great examination of "truth" and human nature.

I purchased the HKR Blu Ray of Hard Boiled a few months back. Finally watched it last night.

Just as good a film as I remember from watching it on the Tartan VHS around 1996, which was the last time I saw it.

The HKR disc uses the same source as the Japan Blu Ray (which now costs more than the annual rate of inflation of Zimbabwe, or sending a letter to anyone outside of the USA to anywhere in the world).

Totally redone though and with lovely original monural audio. It was epic viewing. There is no better version out there to date imho. Great film too.

The second disc has the longer, and slightly different throughout, Taiwan print. Albeit in SD and with those horrible transparent subtitles everyone hates.

Working on windows in the house so I was spinning LDs rather than news or streaming.

Just watched earlier today Wanna-Be's (1986) [90LS 4002]

Then just finished Noel's Fantastic Trip (1983) [AH007-2510]
Noel's is totally bizarre AF, more kiddie but still bizarre AF.

Last night decided to watch this again Sky Pirates (1986) [SF078-5202]

Odd sort of fun indy rip off, poor continuity in the film at some places.

The Whispering Star

Probably the best movie I've seen from the last decade. Zeta, I highly recommend this if you've not seen it. I've already watched it multiple times. It's something that you need to watch more than once imo, I'm still thinking about it.
