I recently watched this on youtube which takes place before something or other can't remember since been years since I saw all of Gall Force on LaserDisc and not even sure if I still have it. It seems they should have released this on Laserdisc in the US but it was cancelled. anyone know why? it makes everything complete but the version on youtube was dub so it must have had a complete run or so on VHS.

any thoughts?

The three-part OVA Gall Force: Earth Chapter was a direct sequel to Rhea Gall Force. I don't have any information myself as to why Rhea Gall Force wasn't released on LD here in the US, and I find it rather disappointing as it's my favorite installment in the franchise. What I do know is that CPM eventually released it on DVD in the States, but I don't have that DVD and don't know anything about the dub or possible releases on other formats.

Can't comment on the LD, but the initial DVD of Rhea was released in 2001, and was a subtitled-only release. The 2003 re-release was both subbed and dubbed.

In that case I’d say it wasn’t part of the previous package deal.

What are the Japanese publishers for the different series. Are they all the same? You may have Beautiful Dreamer situation.

Central Park Media had the license to everything Gall Force except for the OVA "Super-Deformed Double Feature: Scramble Wars and 10 Little Gall Force". The aforementioned OVA was under license to AnimEigo, and they only released it on VHS. No other publisher has licensed Gall Force since.

The Subtitled Laserdisc was cancelled. It only got a VHS release before going straight to DVD.

I think all the other films and ovas made it to Laserdisc in the states sans ten little gal force and gall force rhea, or the remake revolution.

I want to get the Laserdisc of Gall Force Rhea.

Just got the nutech DVD. Looks like a tenth generation vhs source. Burned in subtitles. Worst DVD i've ever owned picture wise.

The VHS is quite good and is letterboxed. I mean watching it on an old standard def tv.

This is the what the Central Park Media (U.S. Manga Corps) 2003 release of Rhea Gall Force looks like. I don't know if they re-did the transfer for this release versus the previous release they did in partnership with Nutech two years prior in 2001 or not though.

Was supposed to be remastered but i can neither confirm or deny that because that was the DVD i purchased but they shipped me the earlier pressing.

Until then i never had a problem with Nikaku Animart. I just decided to keep the DVD anyway and not complain.

Honestly you are probably better off getting the laserdisc, unless they ever do proper HD scans of the original 35mm masters. Who knows if those exist though?

Just got the Memorial Box Laserdisc set. Its massive and all of them are in CAV format. Also comes with a vinyl LP. Hard to believe this came out 1997. Wasn't DVD a thing yet?

DVD existed in 1997, yes, but it was still very new. Granted I was a kid, but I didn't first hear of it until at least the year 2000.

PIONEER's first DVD player, DV-500, produced in 1997, but designed and engineered in 1996;

I saw some film cel clips of an auction in Japan. So at least Eternal Story was on 35mm film at some point. I wonder if the negatives could be discovered and who owns the rights. I'd love the entire series on Blu-Ray. Doubt it will happen though it isn't Bubblegum Crisis or Project A-ko.

I also found out New Era was dubbed a second time in the UK. I never knew that and wouldn't have but i found someone had captured the tapes and put them on the archive. Pal VHS.
