Hi,
I have an issue with my new Pioneer CLD-150K that I just bought. The laser assembly moves like it should, but the lens itself doesn‘t try to focus. I know that normally whilst trying to find the disc, it should move up and down a few times. It‘s just jittering a bit when turning the machine on or off. Aside from that there is no movement at all. I tried to look up in the service manual whether there is some kind of motor or spring inside the assembly that can break, but couldn‘t find anything. The laser itself is still good (I think), because you can see a light inside, the ribbon cable, belts and capacitors look all fine to me (belts are firm, and there is no smell of rotten fish)
Any ideas what it could be? All help is appreciated.

No, nothing that extreme. It just give a miniscule little shudder when turning the machine on or off and the tilt mechanism seems to work normally. https://youtu.be/7ZzJuNNB-M0Mainly, I‘m wondering if the problem lies with the assembly or the board. So, could it be that something broke within the laser assembly?

Bad traces too…. See what happened to my CLD-97 remote control board….. Look for deterioration like that. If you find it, they can usually be fixed by jumping them.

So, I think I made it worse.
I bought a Multimeter for measureing currence and so on and tried to see if the focus drive and focus return were recieving any electricity. First I tried to measure it on the laser pickup itself, but it moved to much. So next I tried the semiconductor posted above. (Or I thought I did and realised now that I tested the one next to it). I did what @ldfan suggested last. But while I did that I connected two legs of one of the semiconductors on accident. Well the result was: The Focus moved once, and now the motor of the tray does not work anymore.
So, did I cause a short cut? What does the motor of the tray have to do with the Focus Drive? The Focus moved for the first time, so the fault lies on the board, probably? And the most important question: Can I fix the motor of the tray?
EDIT: The motor that moves the laserpickup back and forth also doesn‘t work anymore. There has to some component that moves all the parts and is independent from all the rest. The player itself turns on and off normally, all buttons work and all lights are on. Could it be that the semiconductor I shortcutted is toast and responsable for that? (And maybe it already was a bit wonky, because the focus drive did not work?)

krieg_der_sterne wrote: The display works, you can press buttons and it reacts, so the short can‘t be in the power supply directly. They run off different power supplies. What you are describing is typical: everything seems fine but nothing is moving mechanically. The hope is fuses or protectors like IC201 catch it. Still, check voltages on longer connector on power supply (the player will need to be powered on): Attachment:

Q815 (if the bottom black one in the photo) is a 2SD1762, part of tracking drive.
