Back in 1984, I heard announced on an FM radio station in NYC that they are/will/did | playing/play/played a Bill Joel Laserdisc. I think it was this one: Billy Joel: Live From Long Island (1982) [6297-80]Kind of makes sense. Plus a plug for the format...

Likely to be Tina Turner: Live in Rio '88 (1988) [080 348-1]. Julien

A very tenuous one this! Our favourite LaserDisc magazine - and the BBC comedy series "The Cleaner": Attachment:

The ad playing on the radio was spoofing high quality new laserdiscs when he startled awake and cocked his shotgun before driving away..... This is a bit of a tangent, but in about that same scene with Reece in his car, the radio station mentions playing a song from a "compact laser disc". That permanently fixes that movie/scene to exactly when it was made (1984?), because only for a short time then, radio stations (in the USA at least) often announced when they played a song from a then-new-technology CD. But, they often or always called it a "compact laser disc", not a "compact disc" or "CD" yet. I suppose the intent was to emphasize that the players and technology used lasers, which were of course very cool then (and still are! )
