Hello,

I have a Pioneer CLD-V2800 that has worked great for years. Back in May or June I discovered that it would no longer turn on. I have since cut out the Arc Suppressor/TVS diode, replaced the fuse, and it's working again. However, even though it's working, I'm still a little worried about not having the Arc Suppressor. I'm very much not knowledgeable in this area, and the answers I'm seeing vary wildly from "it's not a problem, just use a good power strip with surge protection" to "you're going to fry the components and potentially start a fire". I'd rather air on the side of caution. The Arc Suppressor/TVS diode in mine is model K1V403. I have a friend/coworker who knows how to solder, and is willing to do this for me if I have the replacement part. If anyone has an Amazon/EBay/etc. link to a compatible part, preferably one better than the one it came with as I've read Pioneer kinda cheaped out on that part, it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Do some searching to find out, I'm no tech so I'm giving my advice free of charge.

1st I would check mouser to see if they have the part you need, its not super easy to use but they have a lot of parts for all electronics.

2, there is another player where they clip the arc suppressor and it works fine, so I doubt there will be an issue if those don't have issues.

3, power strip, I would just plug it into the power strip and turn it off at the strip when not in use. ?is there is a possibility it
will start a fire if you run it while you are away. Turn the strip off so no power.

The reason power strips cause fires is due to people plugging way to many things into it that overdraw the amperage the strip is designed for. Just get a Multi Power Strip with surge suppression or a single outlet surge suppressor and it is a better protector than the cheap design Pioneer used in the LD players.

The CLD-Dxxx and DVL-xxx machines use a K1V24 and the next higher rated part is the K1V26. I do not know what a K1V403 is rated at.

Thanks for the replies! I went to Lowe's and bough this power strip rated at 2100 joules of protection (link below). I had done some looking online, including on Mouser, but I couldn't find K1V403 or something labeled as a suitable replacement. I've seen in other forum threads the recommendation to replace a K1V24 or K1V26 with a P6KE350. Though since I've been reassured that using a power strip with surge protection is just as good or better, I may just forget about trying to replace the part. Thanks again guys, and apologies for the late response, I had forgotten my password.
