Hello everyone, new to the forum and first time post. I recently purchased a Pioneer CLD-V190 laserdisc player. The person I purchased it from said it was working. I powered it on and plugged it in to a couple tvs through composite video and I only get a black and white picture. Sound works great but video is only black and white. I contacted the seller and he said it worked for him, but he only used the RF output. Unfortunately my crt monitors don’t have RF in, the only crt I have with RF has a defective RF input. I could not find anything regarding this player. I really like it and would like to get it working. Any information would be appreciated

Is the composite input on your TV a combined composite / component version? If so, check the settings on the TV to ensure it’s set to composite. B&W is what you would get on the green RCA connector if you plug composite into it.

Unfortunately they’re composite only. My monitors are from the 80’s the Sony crt I have is newer but I got the same result.

Are your TV’s capable of different tv standards like PAL and Secam?

In any case, assuming there is an adjustment that is off on the player, here is the link to the CLD-1030 service manual (the V190 is the Karaoke variant of the 1030).
