It’s a good idea in theory…maybe it could even work. You’d have to limit it severely to keep the Die Hard and horror people from ruining it but that’s not a problem. There’s a category for “anime” which…come on. If all anime goes in the same genre then we’re already beyond caring about imperfections…

A “Christmas Movie” in popular terms is almost always PG-13 or softer, is actually made for families to watch at Christmas time as part of enjoying Christmas itself in some way directly or indirectly. If it feels weird to watch it in July it’s probably a Christmas movie. Vengeful murders, seeing people’s insides on the outside, etc are not what 10 year olds watch with their parents while decorating cookies unless the parents suck. This is not very confusing territory to cover. A movie is not a Christmas movie just because the hero is abducted by aliens in December…unless the aliens are somehow saved by the magic of Christmas, then it’s a Christmas movie. If aliens eat humans they obviously can’t convert no matter what holidays they like.

It certainly is as much as It's A Wonderful Life is. (And I love them both.)

These people. Just keep these people from deliberately ruining the idea and it will turn out fine.
