You could just tell that Garofalo was just dripping with enthusiasm This clip really is priceless: while he is going bonkers over the greatness that is UY on glorious laserdisc, she is just chilling out and totally deadpan.

Wow. That's exactly what its like getting new laserdiscs in the mail. I can hardly contain myself and my wife can hardly give a care.

I've occasionally had it happen that I picked up a box at the post office on the way to an anime or SF convention. Then I sit down & open them in a public space, & all kinds of people stop to gawk.

Got my discs from japan today, wife took very close notice when I pulled out the 2 INXS laserdiscs

I've never had a girlfriend but if I would have one and she'd react like that to my collection, I would leave her. No doubt about it.

Hah, well, luckily the last few girls I've dated were Anime fans too, so they would have been interested in me getting some new anime LDs!

Sorry that this is an old topic, but I just have to say that that kid seems way too young to watch Urusei Yatsura, and I also wonder how much he had to beg his parents to fork out 500 dollars for it.

I don't know why but my ex wife (back when we were still married) allowed me to purchase that set with her credit card. And the crappy box/binder is basically in pieces now (No, she didn't want it in the settlement ) but I did have to pay the credit card bill

That binder is on my list of Bad Packaging Ideas. I've actually repackaged the discs into individual plain record jackets, with black-&-orange binary coded volume numbers on the spines. I have this idea of making up my own cover designs, which can be applied by printing onto self-stick label sheets. If anyone wants, I'll post the result when I actually get it done.
