So I recently purchased the Star Wars Definitive Collection off ebay, I threw in a low bid of 26 bucks and won it for a total of $32 shipped. I received it yesterday and was super excited , opened it up to find out it doesnt have the HC book. The listing doesnt mention anything about the missing book just states the discs are in good condition, and they are. Im wondering if I should send it back and get a refund or just keep it and try to find a copy of the book. Are they hard to come by for a decent price? What are your thoughts...

Definitely try to get it refunded if the auction description did not say that the book was not included. The book should be a given.

I read here that there are lots of flaws with early pressings. Duff accidentally sent me one of these instead of the OG ones so I put it to the test. I would say load up Empire Strikes Back and look for missing footage of Leia. It's side 3 of ESB, and if it starts with her welding then it is complete and you have the desirable pressing. If it starts with her hanging her welding headgear, it is incomplete.

Might help your decision? +/- 30 bucks seems like a good score to me for the desirable set. Maybe he would even refund you some. Missing the book is a perfectly good reason to ask for a little back.

There's other stuff I was able to see for myself too, misspellings in the subtitles and sound pops. Overall if you love the movie who cares about that stuff. Well, actually many do I guess. The missing book seems like the real issue though.

If it happens to be the ideal one, well then nice grab, I'd work with the guy on keeping it. Definitely you should still get a bit of a refund if he didn't disclose the missing book, or a whole refund if you want to return it.
