Got in touch with this one guy on an anime-related forum who was looking to get rid of his LDs and player. Sold me a CLD-D605 for $40 And a bunch of his Laserdiscs for $5, box sets for $10. Picked up several DTS titles and as far as box sets, got this late release, import Tenchi Muyo box set: http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/30873/PIL ... h-ki-(1992) And this Godfather box: http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/21451/LV1 ... 1980-(1992) Gave the D605 to my parents. Another good deal I got was on a player, not so much the discs. Got a Runco LJR-II (with original box, manual and remote) for $300 with 50 discs. Decided to sell the player on Ebay and got $1000 for it.

Probably all of these discs: Plus 9 more common discs and a demodulator for $180. Second would be my animation score of 40 or so titles, including all 5 Looney Tunes sets, #5 still sealed, for $40 Last would be the over 400 discs I bought a few weeks ago plus 2 players for $75

Replied to a craigslist freebie add for 200 discs. The guy had been trying to sell the discs for months with no success. I emailed asking if the discs were still available and was told to come get them. The bonus was the Cld-D701 that he gave me also because of a sticking door

Bought a set of five "adult" anime discs from an eBay seller. It was a full set of the Lolita series, the first hentai OVAs; not my cup of tea, but it was interesting for the historical perspective (and to pad out my sub-collection of adult LDs), and the price was reasonable, something like $20 for six discs. Free shipping, too!
The seller messaged me and told me he'd include a few extra discs as thanks for purchasing... when I got the package, there were 25 discs. The six Lolita discs... and nine Cream Lemon/New Cream Lemon discs, many of which are different sleeves/numbers than what's listed on LDDB. And ten other random live action adult discs from HK and the US. Still $20 and free shipping. I'm guessing the seller had a girlfriend/wife who wanted the stuff out of the house. Funny thing was, I'd been on the hunt for Cream Lemon for ages, and would have dropped a ton more money on the guy's head had those been the ones in his listing.

back when i first got into LD collecting, 'round 2007ish, my first LDs were from this privately run specialty video store that is now long-defunct, that was running a 75% sale to unload their LD stocks. built the foundation of my collection on the resultant $1/2.00 single discs, $5/8.00 box sets and the extra discounts the store owner gave me for buying in the volume that i was.
perhaps a year or two later, i came across a CL ad for around 100 Anime LDs and a CLD-S104 less remote/manual for $80, and i was all over it like white on rice. in all i've probably around 150/175 LDs so far, around $140 invested, minus the handful of titles i'vs acquired online for around $10/$20shipped per...

I got my Maison Ikkoku 24 disc box set on eBay for $50 a few years ago from the original owner in the USA who imported it back in the day, and it is nice to buy what was once a $1500 set for so little. I can't even remember the last MI LD24 to show up on eBay before mine, and shipping these things from Japan is brutal ($$$) so I was very pleased with this score .
