realy? tvs were that small at 20 inches? i remember them more like 30 at least unless they are like kitchen tv or something.
in the 80's, 27in. diagonal was the absolute ritz in CRT tech for the overwhelming majority.
i was profusely lucky as a kid to have played my very first ever video games on one, my mother's wood swivel-cabinet 1987 RCA "DIMENSIA" model.
now, MITSUBISHI was in fact on the bleeding edge of things in the late 80's with their 35" and even 40" diagonal CRT sets,
but those were priced in the thousands, the 40" being around $10k, IIRC, definitely well out of reach
of all but the wealthy and hardcore.
for pretty much everyone back then, 27in. was the best one could aspire to in a conventional CRT,
and if they wanted more, they started thinking about rear projection, not at all inexpensive itself at the time.
in sum, 30+ inch CRT sizes did not really become commonplace, or remotely affordable to the masses,
until sometime i the 90's, mid to mid/late, IIRC...
