I posted this earlier in the wrong section, sorry.

--------------------

Hi Everyone,

I am new to the world of LDs and am wondering if someone could help me. One of my favourite movies is Ghost in the Shell. I own 2 different DVD versions and the 1080i BD of the movie, all of which seem to show the same problems in the transfer: the green mind-interface images are all over-saturated, and in the first shot of the movie there is an ugly pulsating that destroys the original effect completely. I saw a US 35mm print projected in 2006, and these scenes looked all much better. The first mind-interface shot (sans the ugly pulsating) is in the old Production Report video, at ~3:30.

Is there a version of GitS on LD without these problems?

Cheers

Yes. If you compare how that first shot from this video looks beside the one I linket above, you'll see what I mean. The Production Reports shows how that scene looked on film prints. This overly saturated look of the video in the second link obscures detail and it's just ugly. But every version of the movie I own looks like this, though not so pronaunced on BD.

..."Exactly" ......only the analog VHS and Laserdisc maintain the perfect color accuracy with no green deviation

I hope you understand that it's not thanks to the formats, but the masters (don't know anything about the color timing in Ghost in the Shell though). ;) Color accuracy is much better on Blu-Ray and DVD than Laserdisc or VHS.
