CU-CLD004 would probably be an OK substitute for the LD-S1 original, very similar basic overall design;

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pioneer-CU-CLD0 ... SwCQNWejzI

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Origina ... SwLnBX2w9I

CU-LD002 is also fairly similar;

http://www.ebay.com/itm/PIONEER-CU-CLD0 ... SwQYZWuiui

http://www.ebay.com/itm/PIONEER-REMOTE- ... SwpLNX8aae

CU-707 is yet another option;

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-PIONEER ... Sw1x1UN2vn

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-PIONEER ... 2082928991

CU-700 is way off model, but an interesting design all the same;

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Remote ... SwTA9X7X32

CU-CLD008 is likewise far off model, but will give you full functionality all around, including the DIGITAL trick operations;

CU-CLD018 is operationally very similar to CLD008, but includes SIDE-A/B CHANGE functions;

The original is CU-LD008

I have a CU-CLD0018 that works but since the player is older you can't use the jog shuttle only buttons.
I also have the CU-CLD108 and that works as well.
Pretty much any remote should work.
Good luck.

I use my remote for the CLD-79 and it works well. I wish I the box to it and remote but at least having a manual is great.

Resurrecting an old thread. I've got the chance to pick one of these up locally. Based on tasuke's pictures and the pictures on www.laserdiscarchive.co.uk, it looks like there is no dedicated digital audio output, and that the digital audio is run through the onboard DAC. Is there anyway to add a digital audio output on to players that do not have it? I know AC-3 mods exist, and I'll probably do that. It would be great to have dedicated digital out for DTS discs.

To my knowledge this player can't have a digital audio.

I was told my Grasshopper that he and LDservice were talking years ago about how to add and I believe Grasshopper told me you can't add it and they tried years ago.
AC-3 is the only thing you can add.

But the good thing is that you can get the digital audio like you mentioned and since its an LD only its not that big of a deal as there are no CDs running through it.
Don't forget if you try 8 inch discs you will need an adapter for the thinner singles, they are just too thin for this player from the age etc.

Thanks for the response. I appreciate it. I don't have too many DTS titles, so it really isn't that big of a problem.

I didn't know that about the 8" discs. I know that this player has a special floating magnet spindle. Is that for all 8" discs or just the 8" single? All but one of the 8" discs I have are 2 panes of plastic. One side clear, and the other white. One of my 8" discs is listed on LDDB as a 8" Single and is only a single pane of plastic (IE half as thick).

Just the single, the double thick will be fine, I knew about this but stupidly put a single in anyway and it scratched the s**t out of it.

I was lucky enough to buff it out and its fine but its that type of thing you just don't really think about.

I appreciate the info. Glad to hear that you were able to buff out the scratches.
