Are there any other remotes that will control all the functions on a cld 79? I see that the cu cld120 was the remote supplied with it.

Any player in the same family of the CLD-79 will work. Like...

CLD-D703
CLD-D704
CLD-99

Fairly certain a remote for Japanese players like the CLD-R7G and LD-S9 will work too, just that all of those remotes are hard to come by these days.

If you don't need the V-DNR controls, almost any other Pioneer remote with a jog/shuttle dial and A and B side control will work fine.

You need the CU-CLD120 or 117 (for the 99) if you want to control the DVNR adjustments. The 703/704 remote will cycle thru the presets but not allow adjustments to the three custom noise reduction settings.

If you updating the list I would be careful about the CU-CLD134 remote use as alternates in your list. The CU-CLD-134 will not control any DNR functions so it is really not any better than any other remote starting with the one for the CLD-980 on up for an alternate as they all control the generic functions with but there are differences in switching between Digital and Analog audio and Stereo/R/L being one or two buttons. Players like the CLD-HF7G, HF9G, and LD-S9 need a remote with the separate memory and select buttons and the CLD-R7G also needs a remote with a specialized Video DNR button.

Hello Kurtis!

This was on the initial list I copied from the URL provided in the topic.
Maybe the intention was to convey that the CU-CLD134 should cover all the basic functions of the various models co-listed?

I resumed working on the Player database recently and... maybe we need a players' remote control separate database as well?
So we could link which model works with which player, mention limitation or finer details on usage of some exotic functions?

I would think that just adding some kind of additional marking for the players that have variable noise reduction would work. There are differences with those also. The CLD-79/99 remotes will fully control the V-DNR for the CLD-D703/704 by using the memory button and jog/dial but the 703/704 remote will only step thru memory pre-sets on the 79/99 and does not allow to adjust the memories as it does have the second button. The CLD-59 has a special video button to adjust the video sharpness.

Older players like the CLD-3070 and older generally need an "ENTER" button to selectively search where starting with the CLD3080 Pioneer started with the +10 button and did away with the ENTER.

Not so sure I would want to take this on if I were you.

Hello, I just bought a CLD-79 player myself, with no remote.
Happily, it’s working, and I do have a CU-CLDO24, which has a jog and shuttle wheel, and controls most of the functions.

Naturally there’s no control of the VDNR. I had a look on eBay, and while neither the 120 nor the 117 are to be found, the remote for the Japan-only HF7G (the CU-CLD109), seems to have the 2 mem buttons.

I suspect there may be more than one Japanese remote for units descended from the 703/704/79/99 that could also have these buttons.

They want 85 bucks plus shipping, so I’ll wait, but I’m hoping to tweak this guy’s PQ. It’s good, but not as solid as my LD-V8000, which is for my archiving projects. The 79 is for watching in the den.

I might break down and get an aftermarket remote, but I’d like to avoid it.

Any other sightings of these mem buttons in the wild?

I guess the CU-CLD109 also works? It has the V-DNR Buttons
Am I correct in assuming you need both buttons...? The actual V-DNR button along with the SELECT button to get into the menu settings for the cld-99 elite?

I believe the cu-cld109 came with the HF7...? it should work with an elite cld-99

You need both buttons. The Memo button switches between Standard, Memory-1, Memory-2, Memory-3, NR Off on the CLD-99. To make an adjustment, you need to press the Memo button to switch to one of the memory settings and then press Select to adjust.

If you include the non-US market players the CU-CLD108 and CU-CLD109 will operate the CLD-79 and CLD-99. They just have a few buttons for graphics that have no function on US models.

Just confirming that my CU-CLD109 controls the NR features of my CLD-79.
