I know I need one, but no real clue.
Pics show a screw and a bushing.
Anyone know dimensions and thread?

I wonder... were shipping screws any different for player models, or was it one type of screw for all players from one manufacturer?

All the ones I've seen are captive so if this one is missing then it's at least somewhat different since it can get lost.

The shipping screw for the VP1000 also is used for all players from that general model line. VP-1000, LD-660, LD-1100, PR-8210, VP-7200, VH-8010, LD-V1000, LD-V1001, PR-8210A. I don't know what the thread pitch is. Failure to use a shipping screw on any of these players will typically result in the broken pinion on the slider motor assembly (VNL-028).

The older style players needed a shipping screw as if you tilted the player forward or back you could hear the pickup move. It would slam forward and back during shipment. The LD-V8000, LD-S2 and HLD-X0 are the only newer players where the pickup could easily slip but they have a locking rail that moves into place to hold the laser during the power off process.

Newer players have laser movement systems that do a much better job holding the laser in place during shipment so the screw was eliminated. The early dual sided players had a transit screw but that held the turn mechanism, not the pickup.

Did you ever find out what type of screw you needed? I figured out what type it was a while ago, but I can't find the specs. I do have the screw, however, so if you still need the info, I'll dig it out and measure it.
