The martians arrived today imported from Japan
Mars Attacks! (1996) [PILF-2400]

Colours are strong on this Japanese import
Dolby AC-3 is dynamically strong

That movie was one of the biggest dissapointments of my life. After seeing the original trading cards printed in sequence in the back of my comic graphic novel I so hoped they would make the original story. Instead the whole movie was one crappy CGI bad joke.

The cgi looked sort of retro campy of the 1950's but it served the story okay. The shoot out in the white house, when the Aliens get splatted with green slim dripping down over the walls looked a bit fake or maybe intentional?

Its bit of an ear-splitter when the effects and music comes in had to notch the fader down a few times!
I thought it was damn funny film but I guess for a fan like yourself of the Topps trading cards you felt gutted? I'd watch it sometime again... ?

I think I have some of Topps cards somewhere maybe in cardboard box?

Yeah they should have made a serious sci fi war film. In the cards the martians invade, enslave humanity etc but the humans start fighting back, then build rocket ships and send troops to Mars to smash and enslave the Martians! Payback!! Wish they'd done a kind of starship troopers with that revenge story and the designs of the original.

Picture is a bit rough but the colour contrat/brightness levels look normal. DNR on the 4k tv improves it with low setting mid and high is bit too much but the low kinder of cleans up some of the noise in the video signal.

Subspecies 3
I kinda like those vampire themed movies from the 90's. Haven't had the chance to check out the first, second and the fourth installment, but I got a brief introduction at the start of the movie so I could enjoy it as a stand alone movie.
The Blu-rays were cheap so I picked up the three movies. I don't know if the fourth movie will be released later on to complete the Subspecies Blu-ray series.

I have justed watched Angelia Jolie's newest film made for Netflix about the Khmer Rouge in the 70s:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4882376/?ref_=nm_flmg_dr_1

I loved it. That is precisely the kind of film I love. I am sick and tired of those stupid blockbusters. This is real CINEMA here.
I can recommend it to anyone who is interested in a serious film about a very dark chapter in the history of a poor South-East Asian country.
Excellent stuff. I am glad I have Netflix at home. Worth every Euro cent.
