Hi,

Before applying for a new database entry I wanted to know if the following LD is a legitimage issue or a bootleg.
It's an Orange Road (Japanese cartoon) episode, single sided (CLV) but with no barcode on the sleeve.
It's under the "Star Entertainment Co. Ltd." label. Sound is Japanese with Chinese / Cantonese but as per sleeve, it's printed in Japan.
Production date is 1992.
Anybody knows this particular title ? I'm attaching a photo of the sleeve just in case anybody knows about it.
I don't read Chinese / Japanese so any translation for the title / chapters (if any) will be welcome.

Thanks !

This is presumably a Hong-Kong or Taiwan release. They're so uncommon to find that I've never been able to discern just which were legitimately licensed.
I will, however, say that I kind of want to add this to my set of KOR LDs now!
The subject matter appears to be, if I can judge by the cover, two of the OVA episodes, specifically, "An Unexpected Situation" (which should be this disc) & "Message in Rouge" (probably this one), which were released by AnimEigo with English subtitles on side 2 of this disc.

It's part of a series of Anime title (note the J in the reference number, HK release would be H, etc.) as follows:

I have an Orguss disc that I believe is Star Entertainment but its packed up right now.

Will have to post, from what I can see its made for the market as listed above and could be but not 100% positive its a bootleg.
Is your sleeve thinner than a regular LD sleeve???

Thanks for your answers.
The sleeve is not thiner, it's like a regular carton LP sleeve (not gatefold).
The disc is transparent plastic,
I'm attaching a scan of the label itself.

MINT marks are:
- SEL0395J92-A02-K (CLV, side 1 with video)
- DD-5-B42-K (CAV, side 2 with fixed image, frame counter so no timing)

From what I read in your reply I think it is worth adding into the database.
I'll create a first entry to be updated whenever new info can be inserted.

Thanks !

Added: Orange Road (1992) [SEL0395J92]

Extra missing information (running time, soundtrack languages, etc.) also welcomed :-)

Thanks for posting.
I remember now, I have a Story of Ricky on LD that is Star.
I don't believe they are bootleg just for the market of that country.

I have a Hong-Kong "Sailor Moon" disc issued by "Aika Animation"/"Century Entertainment". The jacket isn't exactly flimsy compared to the standard Japanese type, but it's a slightly different construction, more like American jackets.
The really amazing thing about it is that the Cantonese voice actresses manage to be higher-pitched & squeakier than the Japanese ones!

I'm still unpacking, once I find that orguss I'll try to post a picture.
The sleeve is very thin, much thinner than the US sleeves.
