Is this feature used exclusively for subtitles, or are there any titles that use it for something like text-based bonus features, like the screenplay or trivia about the film?

I believe but not very positive that it is only subtitles. But hopefully someone who knows more can chime in.

I'd have to double check but I think my copy of Confidential Report (1955) [PLFMB 30881] provides several languages through Teletext while also having Teletext pages describing the Pioneer Cinema range. I can't remember if there are any other pages on there.

British Garden Birds (1981) [BBCV 1005L]

It has a full teletext catalog - It was an experiment by the BBC in preparation for the BBC Domesday Project.
Including engineering test pages for teletext.

Im currently looking for other discs with Teletext for testing something...

A few of my PAL laserdiscs have this feature. Rebecca special edition is one of them. No idea if the feature still works. Must dig out my copy sometime and try. I have a feeling it will be a 100% fail.

I have Jurassic Park, with many subtitles (cf. https://www.journaldulapin.com/2017/08/02/laserdisc-teletexte/) and Addams Family, too. But Teletext is a problem for me, when i use "HQ Circuit" on my player, there is many errors on the teletext.

You mean like before buying one, after buying one, on the cover or what?

More on the cover of those in my collection, I have seen the symbol for close caption but not for teletext. Is the teletext feature something that took off, or is it some minor known feature?

It certainly took off but only as a broadcast TV thing. If you don't have any PAL discs then you wouldn't have any. I don't think teletext was ever widely adopted in NTSC regions in any capacity, and even in PAL regions it's a pretty rare feature on laserdisc. Apart from The Thing, I think all the titles released under the Pioneer Cinema label have it. Closed captioning in turn is pretty much an NTSC exclusive feature.

The quickest way to find out if any of the PAL discs already in your possession feature it is to simply look for teletext discs in the database and see if any familiar titles come up.

Around 100-ish or so PAL LDs were issued with the TELETEXT feature & most are listed on the lddb site though there are some that appear to be missing.

Searching here under the "Captioning is" section then clicking teletext brings them up.

The CEEFAX & TELETEXT systems are all but redundant now.

Only where they couldn't be bothered to update them to the DVB standards. ;)
