Like you come everyday around a release of matrix which is obvious different than all the other previous releases and we still discuss if this rare or not.this was an auction with 8 biders and if you look closer at least 6 of them bid high prices (more than 700 dollars).

Sorry why would you be willing to pay $500 for that? It's the kind of thing I'd flip past in a stack and not even care about. The professional was kind of cool but this? What's so special about it to you that you HAVE to have it on LD?

Abuse of power!! lol No, actually l find it annoying especially when some potential bargain that's obscurely listed gets shouted from the mountain tops by someone obviously not bothered bidding on it themselves. Let those who do the yards watching and hunting things down reap the rewards!

Never mind willing to pay $500, it sold for $2750. It's the nature of collecting some things. Lladro figurines are worthless to me but look at what some of them sell for. If you don't get it it's going to be way too hard to explain.......

I know what it sold for, I'm able to read. I "get it" I'm obviously a collector too but true collectors have a love for each piece, what is the love for this movie on LD? I know some just want rare stuff, I don't consider them collectors, just elitists and I thought Julien was better than that.

According to facebook, those same 2 LDs (The Cell, Crimson Rivers) had been picked up in Japan for 200 yen (1.91 USD) each a few weeks earlier only to be relisted on Ebay to sell for almost 6000 USD. The same high bidder won both. Import duty charges could add another 1200+ dollars to the overall price.

That really sounds like you're being very judgemental of Julien. Who knows why he has a desire for this disc, could be any number of reasons and anyway why should he have to justify it to any of us?

Any more of a background story? Really can't see those two being missed on YJP and going that cheap!

A few people on Facebook were very sceptical when the guy posted the initial details for those 2 selling for 200 yen each in Japan. I've bought loads of stuff from him over the years so I certainly believed him as he would have no reason to lie. He was just miffed he had missed buying them himself! The reason no one outside Japan noticed them was because they weren't listed on Yahoo. It was apparently some other online site within Japan. He didn't reveal the identity and I don't blame him. The seller who acquired them was from Japan so it all makes sense as he would have been able to see them without much competition. He certainly bagged a massive profit when he then resold them a few weeks later. The seller doesn't collect LDs and doesn't even own a LD player but they know that those late releases are very sought after internationally so they try to locate them to sell outside of Japan.

It's amazing that so many here think yahoo is the only platform in Japan. I mean it was clearly stated the discs weren't sourced from y!jp then a poster here asks again "so yahoo?!!" :lol:

There's Mbok, Mercari, countless specialist web stores, then thousands of Hard Offs and recycle stores throughout the country.

I myself sourced most of my video game collection for next to nothing from suburban Japanese junk stores. Sold a PC Engine CD Rom2 and PC-FX for a 1000+% profit just yesterday.
