Hi guys I have a few 3d titles for vhd and want to preserve them by converting them to burnt 3d bluray. but I don't know how to go about it will capturing the output with 3d mode work when watched on my 4k tv with my blue tooth glasses. or do I need to do something on the pc to make the output in 3d on modern tv. I know its posable as I saw a old vhd rip of Friday the 13th 3d years ago but never downloaded it.

anyone help that would be super as the players and discs are getting rare now and I want to preserve them while I can

As far as I know, you need glasses specifically made for VHD, you can't use it with a regular 3D television (which didn't exist back when VHD was around anyway) so you need to track one of those down.

I'm not an expert when it comes to video editing, but I do know that VHDs utilize field-based 3D, so you'll have to line-double each field to convert alternatively into left and right-eye frames before upscaling. Good luck.

I don't know much about VHD or 3D Bluray but I'm pretty sure what you want to do is going to be incredibly hard. The 3D systems will have zero in common with each other so somehow you'd have to capture the VHD with the two fields isolated and rendered to different files. Once you did that I guess it might not be that hard to drop them into some kind of software for 3D Bluray creation but I'd imagine getting it to look anything not like crap would be very hard. Total picture information can't be great on a 3D VHD.

My understanding is that vhd uses field sequented 3d video wich takes both eyes and displays them on 1 channel in stead of 2 like in side by side. all the glasses do I flicker in time with the video blocking what image is seen left or right. my 3d setup for bluray has an option for Frame sequential 3D wich is the same thing. so capturing the output of the vhd in 3d mode with the image already interlaced then taking the captured video and putting it on disc in a standed format the tv will sink up with the video and block the eyes out in time with the video. that's my theory hoping I am correct. I have a 3d enabled player and bidding on 3d viewer headset atm so shoud be able to compare the vhd output to the 4k output on my tv

I wish there were a setting on modern HDTVs to not de-interlace analog video, that's the whole reason why field-sequential 3D won't work on them. I've heard of a program that will convert these to side-by-side format which you can watch on a modern 3D TV, but haven't figured it out. I've got a few of these discs too which I'd like to convert.

Very interesting, while I don't own any 3D VHD I do have a few LDs and they work on my TV?
Wonder if I'm just thinking I'm seeing what I should be or its an older cheaper TV without the deinterlacing??

There aren't many field-sequential 3D laserdiscs to my knowledge, just a few made for the LaserActive system. I have the 3D Museum disc.

I'm sorry, what is the difference between field-sequential 3D and the red and blue???

The LDs and very few early DVDs I own are the red blue and I see them fine on my LED TV and DLP projector.

Field sequential is the same as active shutter.

Basically the video is played back at twice the framerate while the 3D goggles block the vision of the other eye every two frames, in sync with the video source.

Ah, thanks.
No wonder I still see the anaglyph red and blue 3D.
