Someone on ebay has one for 1500 or best offer.
That's pretty much as cheap as you can get one.

Damn I happy to get that LDS1 since that was a lost cause from Duncan. It sucks though but I have no means of trying to get what I paid for. I do hope the LDS1 still works when I get all of my stuff out of storage and move everything here but given my damn luck with players I will be so outta luck.

In a straight auction, from eBay’s past sales, I see $500-$600 average. I’m willing to pay more than that for a player in good working and cosmetic condition. The listings for $1500-$2000 on eBay stay there for months and even years. Those people are looking for suckers. I’m not one, nor am I interested in paying that amount.

One sold for $1200 and the other $555 and had $125 shipping listed, possibly more to other locations.

Asking for such a player in this hobby is not going to be cheap, and if you saw it in time you probably should have bid on that 555 one.

Before I would pay $1500 for an S2, I would simply go all in on an X0 like this one that went for about $1000 (seems working based on Google translate): https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n282060508

Even if you spent $1000 to ship it, it would still make more sense. Those S2 BINS are optimistic. X0 is no longer a $5k, or whatever wacky amount they used to be in the west, machine if you shop around.

X0 doesn’t ship well. You can see past sales but can’t see how many got wrecked during transit. You are looking at $1300 for shipping and another $100-150 for extra packaging over the manufacturers box if it comes with it. You still have 9/10 chance it willl arrive functional. A more likely but still optimistic final price is around $1500 on yahoo. That auction is $1100 ish in USD and add proxy fees and what not. I would say X0 is $2500-3300 range still.

$1500 is a little too much for S2 but $700-1000 depending on condition is reasonable. That’s more than half the cost of X0.

A few years back, there was an LD-S2 on Craigslist not too far from me for $700.

I should have jumped on that while I had the chance.

$700-$1000 on an S2 is a premium price that I would be willing to pay for a unit in very good cosmetic and working condition. In average condition, these things sell for $300-$600 regularly, especially in Japanese auctions under the X1 model number.

You missed a mint boxed S2 with AC3 for $750 in Olympia Fields a couple years back lol. PM me if you want some links to Chicago area FB groups, we have sales occasionally.

Now you are just comparing apples to oranges.

Sure you get a cheaper unit from Japan if you are lucky, but then you have to PAY for that shipping otherwise you are SOL and I'm not talking about the
satellite from AKIRA.

Shipping could cost you about 600-800 depending on if you get it packed right.
Those slow boat shipping costs really bash the boxes, I know first hand.

Received a box of discs once to try and save on shipping, bad move, the entire outer box had 3 of the 4 edges split open, nothing missing
but I can't even imagine what a player would have looked like in that box

rein-o, is there a reason why you’re repeated thread crapping my wanted ad? Please go away. No, it doesn’t cost $800 to ship a laserdisc player from Japan

Man, some people are so sensative. How is he “crapping” on this thread? He’s contributing to an ongoing conversation just like everyone else posting here. It seems like the first people offended are the first ones to tell other people what to say. You’re swinging it a little wide for five posts, IMHO. This isn’t an advertisement, it’s a thread on a forum. People are going to comment.

It seems like your low premium price and your high YAJ price are $100 apart and there’s no way your shipping this for $100 so I do think Rein-O had a point there. A $300 deck sitting in Japan does you no good. You have to get it here unbroken and that’s not always a trivial matter. LD players break VERY often in transit. It’s never happened to me but it’s a topic here we are all very sadly familiar with. You may very well need to buy more than one player to get one in tact and that’s *really* expensive.

I can’t wait until we’re talking about sending our players *to* Japan for service. That’s going to be great. :)

Really.....
Have you bought from YJ with a proxy bidding service before.
You will be in for a nice ride, especially with a 90lbs player pre double boxed and shipped express to make sure it arrives in one piece.

EDIT:
I know its a really heavy player, thought it was in the 90lbs range, could be 70lbs but very heavy no matter.
Want to keep my new posts to a minimum as I'm so close to 5000 now :ugeek:

I think it’s less than 70lbs but otherwise I think you are right. That R7G (or other similar player) doesn’t look so low end now when you consider it’s half the weight of the better decks and 1/4 of the really spiff ones meaning it’s hundreds of dollars less out the door. EMS tops out at like 30kg, right? So that means it’s freight and will be treated like it.

I would buy a player like this only from someone who I knew in advance would crate it or at least get it palletized. Blind YAJ actions are too risky. You’re laying out a grand or more and 3/4 of it is going to be shipping costs. You really don’t want to do anything twice. :(

Hint for everyone when buying players from Japan use zenmarket, they use FedEx as a shipping option which is MUCH cheaper to ship large heavy boxes with.

I get X9's in 3-4 days for approx $125 shipping. I just paid approx $150.00 for a 55 pound package with a Kenwood LVD-Z1 in it and an HLD-X0 based on weight (100 lbs packed) would cost between $400 and $500 for same 3-4 day FedEx.
