Is the J your favorite? I ask because I’d hold out for a Max Special or a super ostrich at those prices. I could only afford to ever buy one.

it is. the VF-1S Focker, the mass appeal posterboy of the MACROSS/ROBOTECH franchise, was once my no.1 as well,
and still holds a high ranking, around a 2 or a 3, but in my elder years, i've come to appreciate the look and feel
of the 1970's VF-1 "WOLFPACK" F-14 TOMCAT squadron-inspired VF-1J Hikaru the most...

I can see that. These days my favorite is the Ostrich by a considerable amount. I’d rather cruise with chicks than blow s**t up in my old age.

nah, i missed the annoyingly limited retail pre-order on it, so i had to bite the flipper bullet at $320shipped from Japan.

fortunately, i came into some X-mas and early B-day funds from family, and that helped to greatly offset the cost...

Ah, ouch. Too true about the windows being narrow. I generally quickly pre-order anything I want, and make sure I will have the money set aside by that time.

Usually about once a week or so I scan for new figures then make note of ones I want. Then I check to see if anything I want has been put up for pre-order yet. Thankfully, this isn't really a worry with any other hobby (I don't care about all those random super limited physical copy video game sellers).

at first, i just didn't grasp just how incredible this thing was going to actually be, not until some time after the initial PO was exhausted, just about everywhere.

at first, it was "just another VF-1 release" but then, it became rapidly clear that it was indeed so much more.

in ALL modes, it was in fact THE PERFECT VF-1 i had fantasied about having back in the 90's, that no transforming toy or model had since ever lived up to.

in fact, a PO popped up on HOBBY LINK JAPAN back in late October, and, somehow, i was lucky enough to secure it.

lo and behold, come release date on DEC. 29th, HLJ contacted me, informing that they lacked sufficient stock to fulfill all POs, and that included mine.

so, desperate for my ultimate VF-1, i bit the bullet on the best post-retail scalper special i could find...

Ghah. I hate it when I think I have something taken care of and then they go “whoops, I screwed up, you now have nothing.”

I wanted to take my girlfriend to see Erasure a while back and the show was sold out. I went to stub hub (one of the most grotesque sites on the internet, and that’s saying something) and begrudgingly paid quad price. Then a few weeks before the show they refunded my money and said they didn’t have the tickets they gouged me hugely on. I’m never buying another ticket from those jerks. It required I lower my standards quite a bit just to buy the things, and then it was just a syke in the end. Total %*%*%s, that company. I wonder how much money a company like that makes off interest every month just from money they will eventually return.

I’ve been dealing with HLJ since about 1998 (twenty years!) and have never had a single issue. Stuff this popular though just puts everyone through the paces.

Thats how paypal makes a lot of their money, by people getting paid and letting the money sit there so they can get interest.

That sucks. I use amiami, and haven't had an issue yet. I have hope that they keep good track of how many items they have to sell, as they closed pre-orders on a figure that comes out in May just last week or so. With enough orders from anywhere though, I am sure there are negative experiences.

Agree on stubhub being trash. I would never use them.

this really is the finest transformable VF-1 scale replica yet, virtually Perfect.

it is generally confirmed that there is to be a 2nd printing of this initial variant, -sometime in 2019- minus the 1st run-exclusive bonus FIGHTER mode-only stand.
like the 1st press, it should be around $160/$170 USD retail, before shipping.

all MACROSS/ROBOTECH VF-1 enthusiasts the world over deserve the opportunity to own at least one of these,
and hopefully BANDAI will be more conscious of the fact with vastly increased production numbers for this second edition...

The infamous gold plastic syndrome. At least it only affects his accessories so unless you're a stickler for that sort of thing, you can just swipe them from a KO Scorponok and paint them gold or something. Can't say the same for something like the Ultra Pretenders.

rather rare 2002 TAKARA made Sakura Shinguji character doll
from the SEGA Visual Novel/Dating Sim/FRONT MISSION-style Strategy hybrid game series "Sakura Wars"
a nearly Japan-exclusive game series that began life on the SEGA SATURN platform back in 1996.

i found her for relatively cheap, -so far as this sort of Anime merchandise goes- around $55shipped.
MANDARAKE has been a serious boon for me on this, as of late.

she got a sorely-needed doll body upgrade, from her stock TAKARA "Jenny" BARBIE-type body,
to the highly poseable, generally flattering-looking OBITSU brand aftermarket doll body. also, some enhanced lip detailing;

the T.V. series isn't half bad, so far. the SENTAI FILMWORKS complete collection i have is a reissue of the old ADV U.S. release,
and it looks, to my eye, like an LD-to-DVD transfer...

I've been meaning to direct compare some of those Sentai releases to the older ones. But I've had a hell of a time trying to buy ANYDVD which is the software I'd want for the job. Visa has been blocking them...so I applied for a MC and have been waiting for a reply...

I thought AnyDVD is now defunct as in unable to buy the program from the site since the movie companies won by either court and or pressure to close it down like they do on other sites and the Kaleidoscope device that ripped movies to a hard drive for home theatre purposes.

Nope, that software is still alive and gets regular updates.
Did not know that you cannot use your CC to pay for it.
Because I see both VISA and MC logos on their check-out page.
I am not in the US though.

Correct, ownership changed hands.

Visa is giving me lots of crap and I checked and I am not alone in that regard. Hopefully MC does the trick. I really don't want to buy bitcoin.

Last Version SlySoft released was 7.6.9.5
Latest version from Redfox is 8.3.3.0
The change from SlySoft to RedFox happened on March, 1 2016. That was almost three years ago.
I have a strong suspicion that customers from the U.S. cannot pay with CC for the software at all.
The U.S. is a strong fighter for copyright laws worldwide. You might even get into trouble for trying to
purchase that software as a U.S. citizen. Better try it anonymous with BTC or use a "free" version.
If you know what I mean with "free" that is... :)
