Recently picked up a copy of the Trial (1993 remake, based on the Kafka novel). Disc manufactured in Japan but it appears made for distribution in English-speaking countries. Very little in the LDDB database about it?

I gather the film was not well recieved, which surprises me. Maclachlan, Hopkins & Robards - 3 of my fav actors - are the leads!

Most likely it would be heavily compared to the excellent Welles version from 1962. I've never seen the version you bought.

That is a solid block of quality there.

I sure thought so. Many of them I haven't seen in a long time.

That Ghost in the Shell box is fantastic, I had it but since my collecting habits are changing I sold it off and picked up the DVD.
From what I remember without searching it also had CC English subtitles so you can watch it on your TV without anything extra unless you don't have CC in your TV.

I watch LD on CRT so that's definitely not an issue.

I have an LED set that gives me CC, I've heard that some sets don't do the CC anymore but its sort of odd as I thought it was a
mandatory thing in the USA?? Unless they changed that rule :?

I have thought about picking up those CC decoders for my projector but I just don't watch that much stuff to use CC on the projector.

I think all TVs still have CC but maybe not. For my bedroom I use an 1080p monitor because they don't make good tvs at 24'' anymore. So that doesn't have CC.

Most of those B&W movies I got I haven't watched since I did so with my grandmother (RIP) on VHS tapes. In addition to just being good movies, they are going to bring back a lot of memories.

It also has english subs on the LD+G channel, if my memory serves me correctly.

Yes, but you need either a player with or stand alone LD+G decoder.

So if you don't have LD+G on your player or stand alone decoder you can still get the English.

IF you have a TV with closed captions. If you have neither you're SOL :P

The only one I'm still missing is the Dragon ball movie The Path to Power. Very difficult to find.
If someone has it and is willing to part with it, please massage me.

I recently won some anime LDs for cheap on eBay. Fingers crossed that they weren't shipped in a trash bag. Would have got them here but the prices were much, much more so I figured it was worth a shot.

If he has a bunch of good feedback, it shouldn't be a problem.

Last time the seller had perfect feedback and the LD came cracked. I know at the very least I will get my money back but I'd rather have the LDs.
