New to the laserdisc community, but plan on being around for a while. I jumped in head first and bought a CLD-D703 last weekend, and then for my birthday yesterday, I picked up a lot of about 1500 movies. Hope to fill in my collection with all my favorites from the past, and upgrading equipment as I go.

How many boxes?

Well I bought 9 tubs at Walmart and they didn't all fit. Should have brought 10 tubs. They had two old tubs that were full and two smaller boxes. So about 13 bigger plastic tub full. The majority of the movies are not the greatest, and stuff I will most likely never watch, but there was some great titles in there. I am not a Star Trek fan at all, but was excited to see the 1986 unaired pilot in the bunch. I know it isn't too rare or expensive, but that was a pleasant surprise. The thing that pissed me off the most was as I was looking through it, the lady was like, oh can I please have that for my husband, I know that he would have wanted to keep that one. It is what it is, and I still got a really good deal. Got all the disc for 300.

Yeah, that was really terrible of someone to keep one disc and sell the others for nothing. OH WELL. IT IS WHAT IT IS. What can anyone do about jerks like that, right?

Btw, in what capacity does Walmart sell Laserdiscs by the tub? Are they litterally having boot sales in their parking lots now? I mean officially?

They had an Antique Mall with all the LDs loose on a shelf. I transported them in bigger plastic tubs, and it wasn't just one. Whenever I would come to something that either had a really nice cover or a title she recognized, she wanted it back. It was her stuff though, and I had not purchased it yet. Its all about the thrill of the chase, and I will find those titles elsewhere.

Yeah, it's not like it hasn't been released a number of times on DVD and blu-ray in both it's black & white and full colour forms...

Unless it was, oh wait it was.

Was searching a few months ago and even saw they released Twilight of The Cockroaches on DVD.
Guess pretty soon there will only be a 5% reason to keep LD, or is that 3%

Still glad to see that others are getting into LD to enjoy the format for what it is and that you have the space for 1500 discs.

Yeah the garage right now until I can build a proper tv stand to fit all of my players. I have a betamax, vcr/dvd recorder, and of course the LD. The design I have should fit close to 500 disc or so, and then I will be storing the rest in a closet, and just rotate titles out as I see fit.

Idk, a lot of anime LDs look much better than crappy DVDs. Bad DVDs are soooo bad.

Yes its true, some of the direct to LD releases look much better than DVDs or even the Blurays.
But most are all released, very sad but happy that most of this rare anime is being released so others can enjoy this rare art
that has been lost for many years with LDs only etc.
