Yeah. I saw the second half of it twice. Not bad. It does have an evil guy singing about how much they love money (basically, the crab) and that’s weapons grade chiche but I didn’t have trouble watching it.

If I remember correctly I think as my Anthro teacher mentioned it was a good movie to watch for Anthropology but that was a few years ago.

Cg movies definitely don't even hold a candle to hand drawn animation. It's starting to at least get some creative examples finally (Spiderman Into the Multiverse comes to mind), but still, there's just so much more "life" in well done hand drawn animation.

I agree, which might sound like an odd thing for me to say since computer animation is what got me collecting LD in the first place, but there's something about the computer graphics of yore that appeals to me. I treat Toy Story as the kind of peak and cutoff point; after that it just started to become a lot less special. The animation simply got too good, which lead to it becoming a lot less experimental and surreal in terms of content because the artists would instead try to emulate reality. It simply became mundane.

I'm OK with it but don't go out of my way to see any of the newer stuff.
But I did watch Black Panther from the library.

That's weird, now that I think about it I had a similar fascination with CG to start, I do remember Toy Story really being interesting to me as well. I also remember being very interested in Pixar's earlier shorts as well. But I guess over time CG just got so 'overplayed' and boring, exaggerated by the realism they were seeking to achieve like you said. It's a shame since they basically took over traditional animated cartoons, which still have a place in cinema.

I was watching that Jungle Book disc last night actually (great picture quality btw). My spouse walks in and comments on how the animators were able to create such expressive characters, and that if I muted it we could still tell exactly what they were saying. Well, I muted it and sure enough you could still tell exactly what every character was feeling/conveying.
I've sort of seen this in some CG movies, but the extent of these emotions are muted in comparison.

Always liked Broken Arrow for some reason, I think its better in some ways than Face Off.
But both are fun US Woo films.

I find it's always rather disappointing to want a movie, check the releases here only to see the US release is a high rot chance. Just happened to me with Hamlet (1996).

I was gonna buy the Japanese True Lies but somebody beat me to it :( The only way to get Demolition Man with the original audio (the international version replaces Taco Bell with Pizza Hut) is the US release, which also suffers from a high rot rate.

Update on the saga of trying to buy The Matrix: customs returned the disc to the seller twice. So I guess I'm back on the hunt. And I missed the 20th anniversary!

Exactly how the hell did this happen? You're in Canada I mean I wouldn't think they would have much reason to return it but I guess the US is easier to get things through.

That sucks! When that movie came out all the Taco Bells in the US were decorated in the same theme they use in the Taco Bells of the future of Demolition Man. As someone who ate at Taco Bell a lot out of poverty at the time I thought it was cool that they embraced being depicted as a notch above soylent green in a dystopian sci-fi movie and eating at the stores was like being in a movie ad with the movie looking like a place you’ve been.

You had to be there I guess...I don’t even like this garbage movie I just like feeling like I was in it and it has to be “Taco Bell” or it doesn’t work. :)

I don't remember the Taco Bells were decorated with the movie. Was that before the Yo Quero Taco Bell ads?
