I got a Lexicon LDD-1 and it's not working the way it should.

It turns on when it plugs in, right (the power light comes on). I connect my player's AC3 out to it then I connect the demodulator to a receiver's coaxial input.

The "lock" light should turn on (and the optical/coaxial would turn off) when it detects an AC3 signal, right? But it doesn't do that. I tried 2 discs with AC3 tracks, and I get no sound at all. I'm absolutely clueless as to why this thing isn't working. I've got everything right, but SOMEHOW it doesn't work the way it should, and there's no apparent solution to the problem.

My LaserDisc player is Pioneer CLD-D505, by the way. Does this Lexicon only work with specific players? Do I need the Lexicon DC-1 in order to operate this thing?

Couldn't make it work, sent it back to the seller for refund (he pretended he had it tested, when he truly didn't).

Interesting. Makes me wonder how common it is for these things to be defective.

I got another Lexicon LDD-1 years later (unit sold in Japan with a Japanese 100AC->9DC converter) and this one works just fine!

Probably 100% common when buying these from pallet re-sellers.

Its been a while, what were they called back in the day, electronic recyclers?
I remember going to one in a PA indoor/outdoor fleamarket and they had so many boxes of wires and junk, but then would have one
good thing here or there also.

It makes we wonder how many people have been sold the same broken item.

I sent the Lexicon back to the seller. I think I'll stick to my Sony SDP-E800. That's a very good sound processor. The receiver I use is a Bobtot B701 I found at a pawn shop. Has an analog 5.1 input so I can connect the SDPE800 to it. Sounds great; I love watching movies on LaserDisc with AC-3 audio.

Hey all, I thought I would weigh in on this. I recently had a couple of processors show up (Yamaha DDP-1 and Denon AVD-2000) that did not work. They would turn on fine, the screen looked good, but they would not lock RF AC-3 signal.

I talked with someone over at LDF and they pointed me to possibly failed Voltage regulators. Sure enough, voltage was going in fine to the regulator, but only +1 Volt was coming out (should've been +5V). I replaced the same component on each device and voila, both work great.

Just something to keep in mind for future failed processors/demodulators.
