What's a film or show you wish was released on LD during the late years? My top pick would absolutely have to be The Adolescence of Utena. Imagine this poster as a cover!

My sister ordered Erin Brockovich (2000) [LD 85710 WS] while studying for law but it was cancelled, remember her looking forward to watching and we got some universal discount offer locally but cant recall using.
Gladiator would have been nice on LD

I will second Scott's GLADIATOR circa 2003.
That would have been a real gem on LD.

Cheers to the membership !

Happy Thanksgiving 2023 peeps !

Galaxy Quest. I expected a Japanese release, like Star Wars PM.

After the Flintstones box set, a box set of The Jetsons.

Nope on both...

I wish they completed the Babylon 5 set. They did a good job with the DVDs except they screwed up the CGI scenes. The LDs are slightly softer in live motion scenes but much superior in CGI scenes. I am looking forward to the upcoming Blu-ray set.

First 3 seasons of SG-1. They only released the pilot episode on LD. It looks much better than the DVD and Blu-ray releases. They shot the first 3 seasons on 16mm. Later seasons are on 35mm except the last 3 seasons were shot in HD.

They shot a 90s American television show on 16mm? Are you sure about that? That’s just weird.

First 3 seasons were shot on 16mm. Seasons 4-7 were shot on 35mm. They were all edited on D3 composite tape in SD. Seasons 8-10 were shot on HDCAM and edited at 1080p24.

Somewhere in another thread I did all the math on that, how many sides it would be.

From another thread on the same subject, one of several.

“Lord of the Rings extended Trilogy LD BOX (CAV)

At about 11.5 hours that’s 23 sides assuming you get lucky breaks and no bonus. Enough bonus footage exists to double the running time if not multiply it by six. Obviously bonus would be CLV so figure...14 discs? Maybe 15?

Worth buying an LD-W1 for, sadly it doesn’t exist. If it did...it would have cost $1000 street and bored us to tears all over again but the number of side changes would probably cause the average Tolkien fan to lose a pound or two, not to mention the muscle building one gets from hauling a LD box that weights 25 pounds to all your friends houses.”

Imagine just one of the sides rot over the years and you have to get another full set to view them.

How many of the super late releases are known rotters?

YES, Many of us talked about this years ago if we would win the Lotto  It would be Dolby EX like Phantom Menace!! I wish they did release this before the Pulled the Plug!

I guess I don't post much about LD in these topics. But I just wanted too chime in. "One Ring to Rule Them All"

Since the prince of Egypt and Antz got LaserDisc releases, I kinda wish The road to El Dorado and Shrek would've also gotten LaserDiscs.
