So my girlfriend recently bought a CLD-1030 through eBay. The unit was shipped and marked as “fragile” but UPS still managed to drop or throw the thing to where there was physical damage to the outside of the unit. I got it apart and got it fixed properly but when testing the unit, it would click nonstop after the tray is fully ejected and when it goes into play mode, it clicks constant as well.

I did some digging online with this model prior to finding this forum and found a guy with similar issues. His problem was there was a piece missing that sits inside of a cam gear that raises the disc up into place. I opened this unit and found the same piece missing. I couldn’t find the missing piece inside the unit anywhere and was wondering if anyone here knew of a fix for this? Possibly a 3D printed part or had any old parts that could be salvaged or sold with this piece? I’ll attach a photo of the schematic and have the part in question highlighted in red. Any and all help would be appreciated.

It really sucks…because this unit is in otherwise such great shape. All the components on the board are new and it’s been greased up fresh and been thoroughly cleaned. I’m not sure if the UPS drop caused this piece to break or what.

So I got this working. I found the original piece that broke off and used it as a template. The closest thing I could find to this was a plastic dart tip for darts my company provides (I work for a coin op company) so I used a dremel to shape the tip into what I needed. Fit like a glove and worked like a charm. Player works beautifully now.

I have this same player so let me give you a heads up on what I've had to repair. The gears that the tray utilizes to open and close can break. There's a guy on eBay that sales the specific gear to fix it but I just used superglue.

The laser assembly slides up and down a shaft. The piece that rides along that shaft is plastic and sheared off on me. Again, I fixed that with superglue. If not that you're looking at buying another player for that part.

Occasionally I have to tap on top of the player (bottom right) while I load a disc to get it to recognize the disc and play. Why that works? No idea. It just does.

I have just recently bought this exact player and have the exact same problem. I found the plastic post but couldn't locate the mounting position until your post.

This post is not visible without player disassembly.

Remove the top, bottom, tray, bottom PCB, and any cables in the way, then the four bolts holding the entire spindle motor and laser assembly (4 screws).

Then remove the tilt can motor to expose the post mount. In my case, I still had both halves of the post. I super glued the post to the metal on the post side, then from behind filled the hole and base with superglue and added baking soda to create a polymer epoxy that’s hard as stone.

Then I went back to the post side, applied a seam of superglue around the base and then added baking soda. The fix seems solid. Careful assembly and it read laserdiscs again.
