Christine (1983) [SF078-5118]

This sold this week for $450. Also has a bid of $500. Don't for the life of me know why though. Any ideas? Got extra content or something?

beats me, but it could be the same guy that had the bid and that bought it... I bet its a rare OLD pressing but 450 bucks seems a little much if thats all. the later japanese pressing could be had here: http://www.urabanchou.com/index.php?mai ... _id=162128

Reminds me of some odd vinyl record sales I saw lately. I was looking at new entries at a local vinyl forum and there was this guy searching for old japanese anime soundtracks of Ghibli movies like Nausicaa. He proudly told us about his newest "bargain", a copy of the first Nausicaa soundtrack lp (including all those things like obi, sheet and what not) for which he paid about 90 Euros. I was like: "Ooof, 90 bucks?". I do own the same record and got it directly from Japan for about 300 Yen. Postage was kinda low too so I didn't even pay one-third of the price this other guy did.

So I guess you'll always find/see someone buying stuff for lotsa money while others get the same for a buck or two...

I alaways look after anime soundtracks when I am in japan and ghibli movie soundtracks are pretty rare for some reason. I think you did a nice deal. But 90 euros is a little much aswell =)

Was watching this title on Ebay out of curiosity (as I've never heard of the title before and it isn't in the LDDb):

Dance Macabre HK LD

$224?!?!? Why so much? I mean, sure there's no DVD, but c'mon! It doesn't really look all that good either (coming from Greydon Clark, that's not surprising):

Fanmade Trailer (sort of) for "Dance Macabre"

A real 35mm second hand print, might cost far less or depending on someone putting it up for greedy bidding at silly starting price?

Well I was bidding on ALIEN 3 (1992) 35mm Dolby SR print a few weeks ago, bugger! Lost it! Someone sneaked in an extra few pounds higher than, me and outbid me. The print went for £63.00 and second hand prints around 20 so years ago would go for around £1500.00, £63.00 is a bargain and the colour is good on it and condition. So yes the laserdisc is overpriced!!

do you have a projector or access to a projector?
or are you just collecting 35mm prints?

I've been offered a cheap 35mm projector, but until I get some 35mm prints of good classic films I'll hold off for a while. I'm still p!ssed off about a couple of weeks ago.

35 mm projectors are huge noisy and i doubt the quality of an old second hand print.on the other hand you have a laserdisc from asia which is hard to find even on vhs.what you compare???35mm print of aliens ????

I have a theory on this now that I've acquiring more John Carpenter titles on blu-ray.

It's possible that the original soundtrack with the oldies that Christine plays periodically may not have made its way onto the digital formats due to rights issues. This older Japanese release may still have those songs intact. I don't have any of the other LD releases to compare though.

Now of course, that shouldn't really make that LD so damn valuable, but hey. It is what it is.
