I finally got a perfect copy of Ghibli Ga Ippai Collection (1996) [TKLO-50180] recently. I'll do a big write-up on it eventually but its going to take me a while to drill through.

Anyway, obviously this isn't the largest box set ever at a puny 13 discs, but is it the largest non-TV box set? Off the top of my head I can't think of anything bigger than 13 discs that consists of (nearly) all theatrical releases. This set is 13 discs, one TV movie and 9 roadshow releases. 1233 minutes.

BTW, what is with Japanese fans? This set cost 900 friggen dollars and whoever bought it only opened three of the discs...he didn't even open the one with the Miyazaki-Kurosawa "fireside chat". That's the most interesting thing in the box! The copy of Macross: Super Dimension Fortress: 15 Years Anniversary Memorial Box (1982) [BELL-1036] I got recently was the same way. He only open the last disc...which only has six minutes of video and some still frames. The rest was still sealed. $450 is a lot to pay for 6 minutes...

i was hopeing that someone else would post another large box set.
but i guess this may be the largest non TV box set.

the only ones that i know of have 2 or 3 films.

as for the people not opening all the discs, it's really odd, i had some like that in the past.
the reason i buy them is to watch them, i will open all the discs and then start on a set until i finish, but i broke
that rule with my galaxy express series and now started to watch adventure of gamba.

Well, there is that one Star Trek movie box that has...I think the first five movies. That's the second biggest one I have but it's still only half the size of this one.

Did they ever make an LD box set for Legend of the Galactic Heroes? It was a 110 episode OAV series before they put it on TV. If they did, I would say that would be bigger!

Yeah, much of that series was originally a subscription-based VHS OVA release. It came out on LD eventually, I think the boxes are all in the usual range of six of seven discs to keep the cost per box down to a (by the standards of the day) reasonable cost.

When I started this thread, when I said "non-TV" I sorta meant "theatrical" but I forgot about OVAs. :)

I have you beat :): my copy of the Ghibli box came with all of the discs still sealed! Annoyingly though, the box arrived with some bumped corner damage (which is almost expected with eBay LD sellers: how hard is it to entomb a valuable item in enough bubble wrap? Given the fact that this set was shipped to me in less than optimal packaging, by UPS, I'm fortunate it was not totally destroyed) and at least all of the individual sleeves are perfect.

There are game collectors who leave their games in the shrinkwrap, but laserdiscs (like games) are meant to be played and there is nothing wrong with cracking that seal. I actually bought a copy of the Criterion CAV Akira brand new from Sight and Sound mail order in the late 90s, when it was the best version in existence and OOP (with opened copies selling for hundreds on eBay back then, it would have sold for a fortune) and decided to crack the shrinkwrap in the 2000s. I remember the excitement of scouring the late 90s net for this treasure, finding this copy for $99 and calling S&S to verify it was actually in stock - I'm glad I held onto it with this history. No regrets: that bad boy was meant to be played :).

Largest TV box I have is "Star Trek: Log 1" which is 16 discs. "Star Trek: The Movies" is the largest Non-TV box set I have, at 7 discs. Largest single film box set is "Gone with the Wind - CAV Edition" at 5 discs. That's just from my collection. I don't know about "of all time"

Cream Lemon: Perfect Eternal Preservation Edition [PCLS-00001]

This box comes with 13 discs, and as it is "adult animation" i.e. pr0n, its not a TV show.
But can't think of anything none TV with more than 16 discs.
