I believe it's the real deal. Also to their regret, Nintendo ending up going with Philips and their CD-I, which was a poor choice for everyone. The main reason they did this I believe was because partnering with Sony would have given them less control over their games and that made them uneasy.

Yep, Sony was being really overreaching with the then Sony-Nintendo Playstation as they were planning on releasing a CD only version of the system (basically a SNES without the cartridge port and only a CD-ROM drive) and releasing a statement that they would be the sole source for Superdisc games.

So Nintendo pulled the plug on that and partnered up with Philips. So instead of the Sony-Nintendo Playstation we got those HORRIBLE Zelda games for the CD-I, and Sony went in their own direction for video games and gave us the world conquering Sony Playstation in 1994.

I've played those Zelda CD-i games, and they're not horrible. Mainly bland. Hotel Mario is somewhat enjoyable but in the end I'd say the Philips CD-i is just a waste of time.

Right now I'm sitting with

NES (packed away)
N64 (packed away)
Saturn (packed away, I need to get an A/V cable for it)
Dreamcast (packed away, I need to get this back soon for Pier Solar DC)
PS2 (had one, sold it, got a Slim for $5 at the thrift store a month or so ago)
Xbox ($5 from the thrift store, had Halo 2 in the drive)
Xbox 360 (with the HD-DVD drive now!)
PS3 Phat
Wii
Crystal Blue 2DS.

I had a Wii U, sold it, and regret that decision still today. :(

I may regret it down the road, and there were good times had. But I sold off my Neo Geo AES collection. I didn't have a ton of games, but a fair amount. Hopefully the next owner enjoys it as much as I did. My favorite game that I owned? Ghost Pilots.

It's a fun system, unfortunately AES games can get spendy, especially if you start looking towards the more popular games. MVS is the way to go if you just want to play them. If I get the urge for some Neo Geo I still have the Neo Geo X.

Yeah and I was into arcade games, so MVS was obvious. Had this out in my garage. Miss it sometimes since I'm a huge arcade fan (pick up 'n play with high speed is my kind of thing).

I've collected vintage video games and computers for about 15 years or so now. Besides all this listed below I have a range of different peripherals and games. I like to collect a little bit of everything, expecially the more obscure stuff, but also mainstream. Have several copier units from Hong Kong, home made hardware, pirated material etc. Very interested in the demoscene as well, so some of my computers and consoles are rigged for that kind of stuff. Have maybe around 500 original games in total. If you count all the pirated material I have, then it is well over a thousand.

I'll try to list what I have here, might miss out a few things and the list will be messy:
- Magnavox Odyssey with Shooting Gallery rifle
- 3 pong consoles from the 70s
- 3 Atari 2600 (one 6-switch (NTSC) with composite/s-video mod, one 4-switch (PAL) and one junior (NTSC) with composite mod)
- 2 Commodore 64 (one "bread bin" and one 64C
- Osborne 1 portable computer
- 3 NES (one NTSC, one PAL, one top loader (NTSC) with AV mod)
- AV Famicom
- Sega Mega Drive (PAL model 2 and NTSC-J model 1 with CD unit)
- SNES (PAL and NTSC)
- Super Famicom
- Nintendo 64 (PAL and NTSC-J)
- 3 PSX (all chipped)
- PC Engine (modified with s-video)
- PC Engine GT
- 2 Game Boy (one stock, one heavily modified)
- Game Boy Color
- Game Boy Advance
- Virtual Boy
- 2 Amiga 500 (one stock and one with 512kb extra RAM)
- 2 Amiga 1200 (one stock and one tower converted with PPC accelerator, 256MB RAM, IDE interface, PCI bus board etc)
- Neo Geo AES (universe bios chip)
- Neo Geo CD
- NEC PC-FX
- Kontiki-100 (Rare Norwegian made computer from the 80s)
- Misc PCs from the 80s and 90s (different types from 8088 to Pentium III CPUs)
- Playstation 2 (matrix infinity chip)
- Playstation 4
- xBox (modified)
- xBox 360 slim
- Nintendo 3DS
- Sinclair ZX81

I wish I was able to collect any arcade games. If I could, I'd try extremely hard to somehow hunt down an original 1983 Stern Cliff Hanger machine. I love that game so much even if it was a bit lazily made because they just spliced together two Lupin anime films into a game (Castle of Cagliostro and Mystery of Mamo, which are both great, imo (especially Cagliostro)).

I keep a Sega Saturn around, just because Digital Illusions' True Pinball is my favorite video game ever. It came with the smaller controller (the black US version of the Japanese controller). I bought the larger controller separately because that's the one I was used to in the 90s, but the springs in the shoulder buttons are shot. I have the white Japanese controller too. It gives an "unsupported controller version" message when I try to save my initials on high scores. That doesn't matter anyway, since I don't have a memory card to save the high scores.

Other than that, I have a few handheld electronic games, most notably the original Simon. I wonder whose pocket they thought it would fit in. :wtf:

They even keep the high scores ontop of all the games for you to try to beat.

I nearly got the high score on Samurai Shodown II (missed it by 3000 pts!!)

Hope i get the chance to go out there again soon!!

Have you ever been to Funspot? I was just there almost a week ago, and it's also amazing.

I bought myself a PlayStation 4 on Monday. I bought the "Last of Us Remastered" bundle, and Target had a promotion going where if you buy any PS4 you get copies of "Destiny" and "Assassin's Creed: Unity" included for free. I also bought "Project CARS." I ended up having to exchange the system, though. First one was defective out of the box and wouldn't keep the controller connected or turn back on after going into Rest Mode. :/ I also didn't really want "AC:U" so I took it back as well and got "Far Cry 4" and "Battlefield 4" with the money they gave me back for it.

Minus the immediate snag of having to exchange the system, I'm really loving it so far. Haven't gotten to play around with it much since I had to work a couple of 12-hour shifts this week, but I absolutely adore "Project CARS." It's also the first time I've really tried gaming in surround sound and playing stuff like "Battlefield" in Dolby 5.1 is phenominal.

diggy_dude, have you tried replacing the CR2032 battery in your Saturn? It shouldn't require a memory card to save games.

I bought a console back in 1994 noone else had, the 3DO. It was an excellent piece of hardware for its time and they released a couple of very good titles on it.
I really liked the whole concept behind it but unfortunately it was a failure :(

I still have my Panasonic 3DO console to this day and it still works.

I thought I'd never buy anything related to Nintendo again, but yesterday I got myself a first revision Super Famicom at $30 shipped. Once I have everything set up with my BVM, I will probably get myself an SD2SNES. The reason why I got the first revision is because the RGB quality is far superior in comparison to any later one (last SFC revision (1chip) and Snes Jr. can be modded to get equal results however). I'm looking forward to this.

:wtf:

the Saturn has built in memory so the backup cart is virtually uneeded unless required [which is some Japanese games to my knowledge] or as well a backup of the saves on the system

make there is a working battery so it won't ask you to input the time and date all the time which also helps in saving.

Didn't know about that RGB thing... Still haven't bought an RGB cable for my Super Famicom, but opened mine and could see it isn't the "good" type you bought. I wouldn't have second thoughts about the SD2SNES cartridge. It is just fantastic! Own one my self, and can say I can't believe I didn't buy one sooner. Only complaint I have is that mine can be difficult so insert into the console. It is custom hardware, and guess they missed by maybe 1mm when creating the mold for the shell. Have to insert it slightly at an angle for the connectors to meet. Not a problem when you get used to it, though.

Guess most consoles have "good and bad" revisions. Even the Neo Geo have poor RGB at the later revisions. Thankfully the one I bought from Japan were one of the earliest types that have good RGB!
