Future War 198X (1982) [TE-D014]

my father bought this one for me when we were at tower video downtown NYC around 1990.

even the cold war made its way to anime.
the classic and very hard to find Future War 198X.
given that X to remind us that this can happen anytime in the future and we have to be aware and prevent it.

double disc in a gatefold sleeve with great art on the sleeve. IF you can find this buy it right away,
its a classic anime, and i read somewhere that it was also the same staff that did the GI Joe movie.

for some reason my camera really boosted the whites and bright spots on the photos, but this disc really shines.
picture quality is super clean for such an old disc.
1:33 image, i feel this is an open matte or IF pan and scan it's only cropped very little, like it would have been 1:68 type of image.

playing this on my projector again, i seem to get the best pictures from that rather than getting glare off the CRT.

I like the near same look as ID4 with statue of liberty on its side same as ID4. Maybe that is where Roland Emmerich got the idea from.

Perhaps or maybe from the scene at the end of 'Planet of the Apes':

I have seen Planet of the Apes, it never occurred to me to think about it as its standing ruined in upright position. But all three ether in post apocalyptic or Alien invasion.

i wanted to do a review of this one for a long time, film is just your basic war starting etc.
but there is a special weapon in space, sort of like the star wars system that the USA was er, making in the early 80s

and they save the day when they are in outerspace.
but also a soap opera love twist between a USA astronaut with a Japanese astronaut.
one of the few serious anime films made.
