I found a scaler on eBay named TnA VSP1250.
This is a scaler made in Germany.
Is this a good HQ scaler with a great comb filter?

Does anyone have this scaler?
Do you recommend it?

eBay seller described it as a new unit, seen pictures it's clearly a used item with scuffmarks.

Depends on what chips it uses and if they do what they're supposed to. The DVDO scaler I had earlier had one of the better chips, but it were missing some memory that actually made it work properly. In other words, it made LD look worse. I don't know too much about this stuff. Maybe someone with better knowledge than me is able to find a schematic and identify the chips used.

here's a brand new TnA scaler for 999 euros, very steep unit
there's an internal component pic in this auction

http://www.ebay.de/itm/T-A-VSP-1250R-Hi ... SwnTJW~rgN

I thought all scalers improved LD pic quality?

Trust me, not all scalers are good. Or... not good with analog sources, at least. I've struggled for many years to gain acceptable picture quality on my modern TV. I'm not joking when I'm saying the video was 10 times better on my old CRT TV. Huge difference in picture quality. When I got the Crystalio II scaler was the first time the picture quality was equal or better on my modern plasma TV. The main problem with video processors these days is the fact that analog video isn't a priority. The most common missing feature is a good comb filter for composite video.

The T+A is a re-badged "Cinemateq Picture Optimizer Plus HD".
A retro video game heavy review for this unit (and other scalers) can be found here:

this was a great blog to review, to bad there was way too much info.
I didn't get any wiser from this blog, there were pros and cons on many scalers.

I don't know what to look for for my LD player?
I was browsing this scaler on eBay DVDO Iscan MM701
it's very pricey, don't know if it's any good for LD?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-MM701-DVDO- ... SwPhdU8cxH

my idea is to get a Sanyo PLV-Z3000 projector.
this is an old projector but very good.
to find a good scaler for this projector so I can use my LD player, what do you recommend me to buy?

thanks a lot for the above link.

Crystalio II is what I recommend, and what I use myself.
If you win the lottery you can look for a Lumagen Radiance.
Also see posts made by substance on this topic, he is an expert.
I'm just an average user.

I have the DVDO Iscan Duo, think it is very good for LD, but think not as good as the Crystalio II or Lumagen 2124/2144, perhaps number three pick below those.

It is the only scaler I have owned and have not been able to compare it directly to others. It does an excellent job to make LD very watchable on an HD projector On an 85" 16:9 screen with 95" viewing distance. I would only ever consider changing it if the Crystalio or Lumagen came up at a good price. I paid $750au/$560us for mine, that one at about $1300au/$970us seems expensive, maybe I was just lucky.

I got DVDO ICAN DUO

We installed and operated it

Everyone has a question

1. The input HDMI 1. picture becomes green image.

Is this a malfunction of the HDMI terminal?

There is no other HDMI (input) problem

2. DUO dramatically improved the video

LD-S2 → AV selector → SONY HDD recorder → DVDOISCANDUO → BENQGW 2750 monitor

Do you understand the best figures?
I changed the numbers with my own feeling like the attached image

1) Check that the colour space is set correctly for HDMI input 1 (auto is the safest bet if you're unsure).

2) LD-S2 → AV selector → SONY HDD recorder → DVDOISCANDUO → BENQGW 2750 monitor

Is there a particular reason for the HDD recorder in the chain? Many people use one for its comb filter but the comb filter in the Duo is almost certainly better. Should go: LD-S2 (composite) > DVDO Duo > BENQ Monitor.

For most of those settings the best way to set them accurately would be to obtain a copy of Video Essentials. The colour/saturation setting does seem quite high?

The setting for detail and edge enhancement seems far too high, I would think settings that high would result in a very overly processed/enhanced image with a lot of introduced artefacts. I never put them above 0 and in the case of edge enhancement had it set to a negative value, But these are something of personal preference.

Thanks for pointing out

1) Check that the color space is set correctly for HDMI input 1 (auto is the safest bet if you are unsure).
It solved it.
Changed from YCBCR 444

HDD recorder is used for 3D YC separation

Pioneer LD-S1 → HDD recorder
→ DVDO Duo → BENQ Monitor.

Pioneer LD-S2
→ DVDO Duo → BENQ Monitor.

I found DUO in Japan for $ 200
It's a wonderful performance
All actions are perfect

I have a question
DEEP COLER 30 BIT, 36 BIT
What is the function?

I have a question
DUO recommended color adjustment
Please tell me the numerical value

I'm very pleased with my Duo for VHS, LD and DVD. Though mostly I still watch older content on an HD CRT. Duo is in my bedroom, and it can be nice to watch a light movie before going to bed.

My scaler

DVDO iSCAN DUO
firmware v 2.41

------- I bought the following newly -------
iDK (Japan made)
Scan converter
VSC-02-A

------- I challenged -------
LD-S2 → VSC-02-A → iSCAN DUO
→ BENQ GW 2750

-------result-------
iSCAN DUO only
The still picture was shaking vertically

VSC-02-A → iSCAN DUO
Still pictures stop beautifully and can be seen

It is unknown why it became beautiful
VSC-02-A is capable of 3DYC separation

But TBC, Frame Synchronizer
I could not confirm the fact that it is equipped

VSC-02-A
It will be an upscaler equivalent to DUO
Conversion to 1080p is also possible

------- Adjustment function -----------
Brightness
contrast
Sharpness
hue
saturation

----------- Question -----------

1. It is doubtful why the still image appears beautifully

2. Is the version of DUO latest?
firmware v 2.41

Can I get a new version?
It was already missing on the DVDO site

I also have a IDK video processor (VUC-01), and yes I can say that it the best image I could get yes I do "still" wirh my player : no more shake !
But, IDK support usually only NTSC, and the processing is sometimes too agressive. (too much contrast, strong stair effect for the diagonals...)
I like it I will continue to search how to use it the best !
