My main listening headphone setup right now is Sennheiser HD599s and the Sony NW-A45. Clarity is amazing here although it will never drive high impedance cans very loud. This are 50ohm and it’s not really loud enough for some stuff, IMO, although it is very clear at max power.

For LPs I use the Marantz 2235 receiver in my living room which as far as I can tell just sends unrestricted main amplifier power to your cans. I listen to the A-45 at max or nearly max all the time but I can’t even take %50 with this receiver and that’s with a Grado cart. With a DJ cart and max volume I think you could litterally kill yourself with this system. Needless to say, bottomless balls, prog rock heaven, and even a little dangerous.

rather rare 2002 TAKARA made Sakura Shinguji character doll
from the SEGA Visual Novel/Dating Sim/FRONT MISSION-style Strategy hybrid game series "Sakura Wars"
a nearly Japan-exclusive game series that began life on the SEGA SATURN platform back in 1996.

i found her for relatively cheap, -so far as this sort of Anime merchandise goes- around $55shipped.
MANDARAKE has been a serious boon for me on this, as of late.

she got a sorely-needed doll body upgrade, from her stock TAKARA "Jenny" BARBIE-type body,
to the highly poseable, generally flattering-looking OBITSU brand aftermarket doll body. also, some enhanced lip detailing;

admin, you might be the target market for the MiSTer.

My most recent non-LD purchase was a hopsack navy sport coat from Brooks Brothers: https://i.imgur.com/08cuv90.jpg

I only took a guess because I grew up with one.
An Atari ST, miSTer.
Those games were really cool but only a few were worth anything to play.
I remember one that had Alien type graphics Captain Blood.
Wish I could play it again but it was great to look at but sort of boring as a kid.

I was an Amiga fan, all through and through :-)

Was considering the ST 520 initially but then I saw Pacmania in overscan and Shadow of the Best, and Protracker and I was hooked! Got my first Amiga 500 shortly after.

I eventually ended as a beta-tester for Another World (programmed alone by Eric Chahi, produced by a French company: Delphine Software).

I had Another world for ST, it was great, couldn't ever get it since it was so hard.
Did buy their sequel for the SNES can't remember the name now.

Had Beast for Lynx and it was fun but again one of those computer games that was just way too hard at the time.

Beta Tester for Another World ? That is cool. I loved this game but I thought Flashback was better. I played it all day long on my Amiga 600. That was an excellent game and it was released on many systems, too. I had an Amiga and a 3DO at that time.

I just bought a "new" tape deck, a Nakamichi BX 300 deck. It is also called the Baby Dragon. Well, it plays and records extremely well for a tape deck and was built to last. It is extremely well built and still plays
like new after 33 years. Now all that needs to be done is to replace a few source capacitors for the future. I am impressed how well tape can sound with the proper equipment.

At the end of tape’s era I was using Metal tapes, Sony or Panasonic portables, recording from CD on other people’s decks I couldn’t afford. When Disintigration came out my cassette copy sounded vastly better than the retail one did. However when MD came around I dumped that jazz so fast and never looked back. I never had an MD fail me ever. Not even one time. Last year I bought my friends collection of used blanks and I have yet to find a bad one of those either. It’s honestly amazing that Sony of all people would have developed such a robust disc. Cassettes didn’t fail as often for me as they did for some people but I sure had a dozen or two get eaten or develop bad spots for no obvious reason. The prerecorded ones varied in quality as much as LPs do. Sony’s portables were terrific but man did they break easy. I had a Walkman II which I liked a lot but again...you can only like it so much if it’s broken.

The only working cassette deck I have now is a Radio Shack recorder, like the kind you’d use to tape a class in the 70s, which I only have because it was NIB at a sale and I assumed it was wheel based (rather than belt) so it would still work and I was right. It runs perfectly and it’s as old as I am. I also have one of those USB walkman things from Amazon that was like $20. It sounds good, loud of course, but...speed isn’t perfect.

I had great fun with tape back in the day. I recorded the Doctor Who theme off the TV with a red Panasonic like the one attached. That thing was my pal as a kid for sure and SUPER durable. It could take a major whacking, trust me. These days I’d rather record on a chip though. Faster, sounds better, more portable, etc. Most of cassette’s usefulness is in the past, IMHO.

How exactly does it work for LaserDiscs? would have to run the player through something else (like a DVDR) or can it be straight to the reciever?

This 90's TIE Advanced from Power of the Force.

Image

The photo is fuzzy because I didn't feel like going through the whole ordeal of fixing my camera's battery compartment with tape only to open it again to get the SD card out, and my phone's camera really sucks but it's really only worse because it has no flash at all whereas my main camera has one but still needs everything to be lit like a thousand suns to photograph properly.
