Yeah. Any old minibike advanced enough to have suspension is about where I am. :)

I have two cars with engines in them smaller than what Goldwings have now. I’m not brave really.

I barely have any shoes. I usually just wear clothes until they literally come apart. I had this pair of sneakers I got back in middle school around '98 and wore them until a couple of years ago when the bottoms literally fell off.

Well technically a Valkerye was released in the TF line as Jetfire.

And there could possibly be a translation mixup but it was funny.

Well yes of course it was a joke, I know it's not Transformers.
As for it existing in France, I don't think so since I never heard of the series before investigating LaserDiscs

A new member of the family arrived yesterday. Meet Sony SLV-X810 HiFi Stereo multisystem VCR. AUD$80 One owner, clean internals, dim display (might work on that) but most importantly plays everything I've thrown at it so far. Through the DVDO it's the best VHS picture I've ever seen. Very happy with this. Can finally play my remaining tapes, thinking of getting into a lot more music VHS from Japan as the ones I have sound great.

Took some shots that actually came out decently and show off a little of the great picture I get (still some white flare I don't see in real life that's caused by the camera).

This is a tape recorded 20 years ago off SBS Australia TV, Donny Yen in Tiger Cage II with the usual excellent subtitles done in house, shown uncut and letterboxed. I wish I'd taped more/kept more tapes of back then, I always got perfect SBS reception where I lived. Even if they rebroadcast these they'll be shown in crappy digital

So you'd rather watch Tiger Cage II on a blank VHS tape recorded off a old TV broadcast which probably has a resolution of under 240p, over a digital transfer on DVD or Blu-Ray?

Don't quote my entire post, it clutters up the page.

Again, it's our usual argument, you think resolution is absolutely everything. It's absolutely not.

Yeah of course I would rather watch Tiger Cage II or any quick martial arts stuff in analogue. Even the LD of Tiger Cage II isn't going to have those great SBS subs tho.

Latest purchase, new beanie headover for Colin, my SBS commando

I have never once said resolution is absolutely everything.

Whats the big deal about the SBS subs compared to subs on official home video releases?

I'd be looking at the Hong Kong LDs, they have the same terrible burned in subs that were shown at the cinema. If you haven't seen them they are usually terrible translations and if anyone wears a white shirt or there's a white table cloth or something, you're out of luck!

I do have a lot of Fortune Star DVD releases, good transfers with cleaned up subs mostly and mostly intelligible even but in those fast action scenes I still wish I had an analogue source.

Personally I consider those bilingual subtitles to be part of an experience that is sadly lost these days.

?? That's some hipster s**t right there.

Well I have nostalgia for sitting in Chinatown cinemas to see hong kong double features with a bunch of old Chinese guys and those were the subs but if I actually want to get the whole story surely readable subs are superior??!

Nah, hipster sh!t would be if I claimed it was somehow better than having proper, professionally translated subtitles rather than the engrish ones those often were.
