My first experience of this happening was actually with Dadons a few years ago but I'm finding more and more sellers are doing this now. It seems to be catching on.

They list items for sale having spent zero time researching what they are worth.
So their prices can be all over the place.
You then proceed to buy an item or put in an offer.
You'll get some lame excuse back a few days later that it's out of stock or they couldn't find it etc.
In reality the extra time has allowed them to check the real demand & market value.
A few days later the exact same title then re-appears at 6 times the original price.

This has happened to me on Ebay, Discogs and even Amazon for used items where there were no other copies available.

I'm getting a bit fed up doing all the ground work for these lazy sellers who don't know the true value of what they are selling and are using buyers to identify the 'sought' after items then hiking their prices accordingly.

Unfortunately this has been going on since I can remember.
Seen it at shows back in the early 80s and its obviously still happening.

I've had this happen to me as well, and it's very frustrating.

You spend months or years trying to find something for under a certain price, and when you finally do, the seller basically decides that they offered you too good of a deal.

Forgot to mention it has happened to me on LDDB.com quite a few times as well.

Some newbie seller who has no idea of current laserdisc prices just lists everything at a flat rate of say $1.99 unaware a few titles are actually quite rare. I proceeded to buy a number of titles and then never got sent an invoice.

A week or so later the seller came back with sorry I couldn't find any of the ones that were rare. Interestingly all of the common ones I had bought were still available. One seller was even so bold as to tell me that they had received a better offer so unless I could beat it they were going to sell it to someone else.

Brazen to be certain ....

These people need to be called out and feedback needs to reflect this lack of professional sales ethic ...

Flat out unacceptable, period. Amen ......

These folks need to have their selling rights removed.

Sellers with such practices need to be reported to me, I read all neutral/negative feedbacks to catch any trouble as early as possible before it gets worse.

At least it can be properly dealt with on here, by people with common sense. Most of the time on eBay, you can't even leave feedback because the transaction was canceled.
