As seen in these captures and for those interested in the color grading compared to the BD release
The LD is really different, more natural, better (whiter) skin tones, and that analog film like look you liked

Yep one of my favourite movies and one of my faves on LD! Have the special edition box set, so good.

I mean for me '80s blockbuster action/sci fi movies are an essential part of my LD collection, just the perfect way to watch (and hear!) them. Bring back that feeling of being a kid again that the DVDs and BDs just don't because they were never actually seen like they were released on BD. The LD experience is closer to the original way these movies were actually seen at the time. In analogue. They've got that old "feel" as well, That's important to me.

I gotta throw a vote in for the PILF-1516 box release of Aliens, Special Edition Box release Directors Cut.
The extended footage totals over 30 minutes of cut scenes that Cameron added for the deluxe box version.

Aliens is one of my all time fav's and in agreement with forper an '80s classic .... (and must for any "franchise" lover of Alien......)

Truth be told I have not experienced PILF-1515, however thanks to this post I will give it a go if providence allows down the road.

Cheers to the membership .....

I'm definitely not a "franchise lover" of anything.

I usually make my own canon for a lot of franchises:

Alien and Aliens.
Star Wars Original Trilogy.
Macross TV, Macross DYRL, Macross FB2012, Macross II
Terminator , Terminator 2
Die Hard, Die Hard 2
Blade Runner.
Predator.
Robocop.

etc

I live in a perfect world...

Nor am I a franchise lover of "anything" forper.....

Only referring to the ALIEN saga as it continued and morphed with the Predator storyline after Alien 3 and Resurrection........
I thoroughly enjoyed AVP, including Requiem and was referencing that "franchise" only........

Only commenting on your "essential" part of your 80's sci-fi collection i.e. that Aliens was one (an 80's epic) ......

Hope that my comment is clearer. Would never speak/write for the opinion of another person.

I do tend to agree with others from time to time though .....

What's Alien Resurrection? I have automatically ignored any Aliens stuff after seeing Alien 3.

Alien Resurrection stars Winona Ryder, Michael Wincott and Ron Perlman along with other notable name stars.
Critical reviews panned the whole story and effects.

It made big money despite poor rotten tomatoes score (55%).

I suggest giving it a go forper .....
Personally I really enjoyed Alien Resurrection being a big fan of ANYTHING Ron Pearlman is involved in.

Word on the street is if a story is acceptable that Sigourney Weaver will sign on for a whopping FIFTH Installment of the saga.

Check it out man....

Cheers,

J

I’m not entirely sure that that’s accurate . Aliens would have been presented in 35mm in theatres . That’s a much higher resolution than what LD can produce . Yes the smoothness of an analog film is there, I’ll agree with that .
