Hi everyone, so i got hooked again on laserdiscs collecting and decided to enjoy my laserdiscs at their maximum by using digtal output instead of rca. So I went and bought a toslink cable, but as the title says, my optical output on my 925 is broken and the toslink cable cannot be plugged in. I never used it, for the 20+ years i had this player. (the output itself) My theory on this is that when the player got moved sometimes in his life (it happened a lot of times), the little plastic thingy that is issued with every thing that have a toslink output supposed to protect the digital output got ripped off the player and broke the whole thing (maybe got stuck when passing through a door or something) I guess that the output is unrepairable, what i'd like to know is wether the output can be replaced with spare parts or am I forced to get a player with a non broken output ?

The 925 (as well as probably all LD players I have seen) have never had optical outputs with the newer spring actuated dust cover flap doors. In any case, looks like something definitely mangled this plug. But the good news (as everyone has mentioned); finding and soldering in a replacement should not be an issue. Would just need to remove the old one for now to check its dimensions and overall shape to ensure the new one will fit through the existing hole on the back panel.

The 925 is the the plug type dust cover type of socket, it's a pretty easy job to get access to replace it - You'll need to have some experience with de-soldering, either using desoldering wick or a solder sucker, if you havent done this before then practice on something you don't mind breaking as you could lift the pads and then cause yourself a whole other issue! When removing the MAIN ASSY board (the bottom main board with the toslink on it) you'll need to also remove the back panel of the player so you can lift the board out, be careful not to damage the ribbon cables when taking out and re-installing the board Let me know if you need any help, I currently have my 925 in pieces so if you want any pics I can provide

ryosaeba84 wrote: It wasn't just for silence of the lamb, just side B playback didn't worked anymore on all discs. I am still sorry that you lost the player. I do hope you can try a very small turn at a time to get the player back up and running but I think it may be for parts only now. Good luck on getting another player soon
