Been watching Babylon 5 again, VUDU 480p version this time. Most episodes are 4:3 but there are some odd episodes that are entirely widescreen inside 4:3, which just reminds me of watching stuff on LD I wouldn't say the quality is great, but it's something different as I usually do reruns of this using my PAL DVD sets.

Aren't the DVDs entirely in widescreen?

The whole show was done in widescreen afaik (super 35mm I think) but the cgi is only 4:3. Original broadcasts were all 4:3. I know a lot of people (probably most) don't care, but I'd like to see a definitive version of the show made much like the TOS enhanced versions, although it doesn't matter if the CGI isn't updated (enhanced) or any other extensive work imo. The main thing would be to use the best source and then have full versions of whatever frames are available. What I mean is; on TOS enhanced you can select original or enhanced SFX scenes. For B5 you basically have the whole thing in widescreen with original (4:3) or resized (16:9) CGI options. Apparently there is an archival version of the complete show, cgi and all, on 35mm but it's the broadcast version (all 4:3).

That would be awesome but I don't think the money is there for something like Babylon 5. Awesome show though, it became a favorite of mine.

Between self-censorship, limiting print runs to minus 5 copies, no f**king Pluto merchandise, a lousy streaming app that's riddled with more bugs than a hookers knickers and constantly fiddling with stuff I wonder why we bother.
