Disney do my head in. Between self-censorship, limiting print runs to minus 5 copies, no f**king Pluto merchandise, a lousy streaming app that's riddled with more bugs than a hookers knickers and constantly fiddling with stuff I wonder why we bother.

Because people are dumb and Disney fanboys in particular can be quite rabid.

When it comes to being mindlessly loyal to an entity that seems hellbent on screwing them over, they're certainly giving Apple fanboys a run for their money.

Watched from gypsy
Interesting movie. Since it was made in the 60s or 70s it certainly has that feel.

Epic clarity re : top gun pics.....
Utterly fantastic....

Continuing that Tony Scott theme this week.
Viewed Enemy of the State.
Forgot how well done that title was as well.
One of Will Smith's stand out performances in my opinion.

In regards to Top Gun fullscreen ac-3 query :
Cannot speak for all versions of full screen releases. I have a 1987 version that is pre ac-3 development.

My gatefold 1995 widescreen sports the AC-3 stereo goodness [LV 1692-WS]

Thoroughly enjoyed that revisit to Mavericks roots. Kelly Mcgillis was fairly easy on the eyes back then !
;^)

Take it easy people !

Cheers,

J

That clip is awesome.
Two celebs digging on LASERDISCS.
Hope they knew that there were actually higher tech players that played both sides.

Good plug for our extinct media format !

Cheers to the membership,

That reminds me, I should probably watch the HD-DVD I have of Top Gun before Maverick comes out.

FYI, I used to work on F-14 aircraft when I was in the Navy. One of my instructors at Miramar (back when it was still a Naval Air Station), was a technician in the squadron that worked with the movie crew in Top Gun. Said most of the actors and staff were nice folks to work with, save for Tom Cruise. He was a bit of a prima donna.

I often wonder if Cruise will get his Cosby sort of turf out before he dies or after. It’s coming, eventually. I guess if he can keep people going to his movies and the Church can win it’s court battles he stays out of prison. Cosby’s biggest mistake was retiring.

Is it pretty well known that Cruise is a scumbag or something? I don't pay attention to celeb news but of course the Cosby story was so big I couldn't help but read about it.

I have a copy you could have for shipping cost but I would imagine it would be cheaper for you to find a copy in AU or JP.

Just watched the old DVD of Predator. Never upgraded this one to blu-ray because both releases had their issues...which Fox finally addressed, but only for the UHD, which I don't have.

He’s basically #2 in the Church of Scientology which is a fake religion who’s days are numbered. He has limos built by slaves. I recommend the book Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief. There is a HBO version but I very much recommend the book. It hits way harder. It’s only a matter of time. People aren’t ready for it so it won’t happen yet. They want to stick their fingers in their ears and keep going to the movies, but it will happen. Human trafficking and sweatshop labor and cults will have their #metoo moment and when they do it will take out a lot of s****y people.

I watched that documentary on Bikram Yoga. It almost felt like part one of a series in nailing Hollywood scumbags.

That's a generous offer, thanks. Yeah but like Teddanson says, single atom of air, millions of dollars  I especially like the "dimensional weight" trick where even light items bigger than a shoebox can have mega shipping put on em from the US. :problem:

Just viewed DVD of TRISTAN AND ISOLDE and guess who was one of the executive producers : TONY SCOTT !

Also just viewed two roman themed films.

THE EAGLE w/ Channing Tatum
CENTURION with an all star cast too numerous to name.

All three of these are epic roman period films that were extremely well done.

Check em out .....

Cheers mates

Dreams (Yume): Akira Kurosawa's (1990) [NJL-11911]

If you're an artistic wanker you might like this movie. Although I admit it's beautiful and I clould happily watch it even though it was pointless. Every other Kurosawa movie is beautiful too but has, you know, a good story.

I haven't sen this since it was released on cable back in the day.
Didn't care about it too much but then again I was a kid.
Need to watch it again.

Sad to say I've been seeing these films that I didn't care for as a kid and still don't care for them.

yeah these guys rate Dreams extremely highly, but not as highly as that weird surreal LD of building demolitions that Takashi has:
