I'm gonna keep this short and sweet:

Hi! I'm a newbie Laserdisc collector and I've been collecting since the beginning of July this year! My player is a Pioneer CLD-980 and my first LD was Song of the South and my collection is quickly approaching 20 discs! I mostly stick to collecting Disney discs, but I plan on branching out once I get all the Disney discs I want.

Thanks for reading!

Oh my... that could be a LOT of Disney discs (they put tons on LDs!).

A lot of pretty mediocre ones too. Most of the earlier releases are pretty muddy and bad. By the time they did Snow White they had it nailed though.

Not just the video either, the deluxe editions they released had great bonus features and nice boxes as well.

Somehow the earlier cartoon ones were really nice, films may have been an issue with remastering but the shorts are pretty amazing in PQ
for the time.

I'm talking about those gold series, the Mickey, Donald stuff. I think there were 3 volumes.
Silly Symphonies are really great quality too.

I remember when DVD came out and I was going to pickup a lot of stuff I did't see in years, but when I put on an LD that I had
I was amazed at the PQ and stuck with picking them up over the altered DVDs.

Now there is so much mucking around with them that its not even worth picking up Blurays of that stuff if you really like the animation and work they did
back in the day.
Its all been removed by computers to make it how they want it, also so people can't really see how old the stuff is, not by removing dirt but
by making it look CG or all flat in a way.
