I recently decided to try and play my laserdiscs on my modern OLED TV.
Everything works fine using a composite lead connected to a converter then output to an HDMI.
The picture and sound is pretty good considering.
However I read that this can be improved by using the SCART + converter+hdmi option.
So I bought a decent SCART lead and a Neoteck converter from Amazon.
The issue I have is that when connected up, it only plays sound and leaves the TV with a blue screen.
I have made sure all connections are good. What am I missing? Could the converter be faulty?

I dont see how the scart connection would give you a better picture. If anything it would be worse than using a dedicated composite lead because when you use scart, you're still only outputting in composite. Except now your using a thinner cable crammed next to a bunch of other thin cables. Using the scart output is not RGB. Laserdisc is a composite format.

SCART is for vintage computers and video games. It will never improve LD. I say “never” very very rarely but I’m confident to use it here.

Just as a quick update on my original problem, I realised that the converter I bought only scales up for 720p, so its better than SD and therefore doesn't recognise the signal for the LD player. I tested this as I still have an old DVD player with a scart output and when connected up the converter worked fine.

So I've sent it back to Amazon.
