One grail I finally obtained is the Signature Laserdisc of The Thing (1982), one of the four films I go for owning on every format.

I got the THX Widescreen of Terminator delivered yesterday. Went through ebay's global shipping program but not repacked, came in a nice "pizza box" (LP mailer?) and the disc inside coulda used a layer of bubble wrap but some foam nuts proved good enough I guess. No cracks. First LD this year? Will be the last too as I've been unemployed so long but it was a huge gap in my collection of important sci fi and I sold off enough DVDs to cover it. Since buying the disc I heard the sound on the THX version doesn't actually live up to the standard widescreen but I will see this Friday night when it's always movie (and cheap beer) night.

You really know how to take the crunchy with the smooth.

I do buy lots and sometimes there are horrible movies in there. I also probably have a terrible taste in movies or am nostalgic for really bad 1990s movies tied to a specific memory.

You remember where you were when you went to the cinema to see it and who you saw it with, and even having fun with awful movies that today you wouldn't rent or bother to go see, because in those days there was nothing to do and few choices, also ticket prices were cheap.

What I find interesting is people around 30 who have nostalgia for movies much much worse imo than the ones you bought skyjedi. Like movies from the 2000s..

I do for a few but not twilight. I had nostalgia for lord of the rings and Matrix, as in had. They wore it out by doing it way too much or making unneeded sequels. I'm so beyond Tolkien and Hobbit everything i'm still burned out on that stuff especially after the Hobbit trilogy. I'm nearly there on Game of Thrones or the mere mention of it.

Have a total love/hate relationship with the Star Wars prequels I only liked parts of Phantom Menace and the Last third of Revenge of the Sith. I utterly loathe and despise Disney Star Wars I don't think if I am alive in 20 years I will be nostalgic for them.

I've never seen The Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones. Kinda glad.

Wish I'd never seen anything Star Wars after 1985. I saw the first Matrix at the time but don't love it or even like it.

I just want to curl into a 1990/1991 ball and live there forever, constantly going back from that point to cover everything, never going forward. I guess that's what I've actually been doing mostly since 1991. Some "friends" have forced me to go to movies I didn't want to see and introduced me to stuff I didn't like since then of course. Now I have no friends and I'm free to live in circa 1991 forever.

These arrived about two weeks ago, my latest acquisitions:

Godfather Trilogy, The: 1901-1980 (1992) (Uncut) [LV15147-7]

The box seems a tad beat to hell, but the book was included and every disc is in pristine condition. I've already let my wife know to set aside 10hrs

Space Ace (1984) [08442]

As a fan of the original arcade game, this one has been one of my grails since before I ever started collecting LaserDisc. The disc is in beautiful condition and plays wonderfully.

Thanks! Yeah, this is my favorite aspect of LaserDisc collecting, the oddities like these. I also have a copy of the cancelled Albegas/Cybernaut (1984) [200-5030] LD arcade game that never made it to production. I have my eye out for the Dragon's Lair titles and Cliff Hanger to add to the collection someday.

Just keep True Lies and use the rest as frisbees.

At least 50, I'd have to pull up sales to give you an exact number of the 12 months.

If those are the US pressings, it might be the only thing they're good for anyway!

I don't care about what pressing they are, they are bad movies. Independence Day actually had some good scenes I guess tho..
