I would take it however you really want to but the one or two or three things.
Audioboyz knows some stuff so can help.

I forgot more than I know and will try to help but I may be snarky sometimes

But enjoy LDs they are great once you get a main focus on your collecting radar.

Just making sure haha figures this would be the best place to get answers instead of reading different things online and people here actually have a strong passion for it and know what they’re talking about

OMG this guy is an idiot, thanks for posting that video.
You're going to be in for a big surprise when your discs all rot away

For some reason I had missed that statement “12voltvid” made about all discs rotting over time. That was really incorrect so I left a comment about it for his vid.

Anyway, the guy otherwise is a really good technician and has really helped me a lot on how to approach a repair. He had a great video on fixing a Denon AV Receiver and his tips helped me to find a couple of shorted resistors on a similarly built Marantz. If and when I replace these part and the unit ends up working again, I’ll send him a big thank you.

Maybe I should check out some more of his videos?

Yeah it was kind of odd how he otherwise seemed to know his stuff but had this weird paranoid take on rot.

Might be like me, as soon as I got my first one someone I know mentioned it and how common it was for them so that’s literally the first thought I have is I spent money on this and it’s a waste, and a lot of things online don’t give a straight answer besides how it is a thing. Not many answers like I’ve gotten on here out there which I’m glad I’ve gotten helped out here

Most of his theory was right it's just that what was showing up on screen when he was talking was not rot. Dont write this guy off though. As ldfan says this guy can teach you a thing or two about servicing and repairs and if you want to know how to do component level repairs his videos are invaluable.

Wait so a vacuum seal bag speeds up the process of disc rot?

You’re doing that thing a lot of new collectors do where you hyper focus on one thing...just relax. %99 of LDs never rot. The ones that do...nothing can stop the progress so again, don’t worry about it. Why would you actually PLAN to buy a movie you have to keep in a vacuum bag? Come on. Get ahold of yourself. :)
