The disc arrived today.

Quite surprised to find it was still sealed so been sitting never used somewhere for over 30 years.

It plays well, a few spots every now & again but not distracting so not a PDO snowstorm.

CAV & runs for around 30 minutes, the same footage is on both sides of this disc.

The rolling text at the start is LE CNT GRONOBLE presente "SALLE BLANCE" - (White Room) Copyright CNET - CNS/DICET-COM Septembre 1989

It is actually an interesting disc on the CNET plant near Grenoble in France covering the research, development & production of silicone chips for high definition television broadcast, mobile phones, phone cards & more. It goes through the various stages of research & the production involved - most of this is showing what was still to come & most of it is pretty spot-on with a lot of what was being predicted coming to fruition. Also quite a bit of detail on how clean rooms work & the conditions needed to maintain the required standards.

It has French spoken on one track & English spoken on the other.

I wish I had the equipment (& the knowledge) to upload this as I think others here may find it of interest.

Thanks rein-o for the original posting on this as if you had not popped the details on here I would more than likely have missed it.

Cheers  .

Thanks for posting the info. Glad you got it.
Gypsy told me about this video converter, it seems to work but I haven't captured anything yet, just haven't had time.
its an rca to usb, the one I bought is called easycap.

I just need to find time to copy the few demo discs I have that I just never have time for.

I’m so glad there was something on the disc and that it wasn’t rotted.

The easiest time I’ve had with putting LDs on Youtube goes like this: play LD into DVD recorder, put DVD in computer, drag VOB files onto Youtube upload page. (Result: https://youtu.be/6oK6X5uikyI)

I’d get better results if I captured the DVD recorder’s HDMI out but I don’t really care that much.

Thanks guys.

I do not have a DVD recorder, meant to pick one up for quite a while but between one thing & another it has not happened.

If I do get one I will have a go at putting the contents up - might be a while though.

I don't think many of these would have been pressed so was a little surprised to find this one still sealed when it got to me.

It would be interesting to know who the discs were intended for though CNET did apparently work alongside quite a few companies.

The clean rooms sections were very interesting & they must have been very costly to build & maintain.

If I get round to picking up A DVD recorder or find some way to get the footage posted I will.

Cheers.

Is it looking correct?

CNET Grenoble CNS (1989) [---]

I believe it's "Salle Blanche", Blance doesn't exit.

Dammit, there was a similarly odd disc for sale here in Finland - and I was too broke to buy it at the time - and I didn't have the foresight to save any of the listing info so I could've at least added it to the database.

And just to add insult to injury, the guy who did buy it does have an account here and I exchanged IMs with him about it briefly shortly after he got it, but he's gone AWOL

Can whoever bought this disc - PROTOTYPE LASER VIDEODISC CNET TELECOMMUNICATION 1988 RARE COLLECTOR RLV MK Ii from the same seller I bought the CNET LD on this thread please let us know what it contains.

It is a recordable disc so it would be interesting to know what it was that they put on it.

Thanks in advance.
