Hi to everyone!

I am new to the world of laserdiscs (I believe it was love at first sight) and i know the format for some time, not deeply, but it's just now starting my collection with some 3 discs

Now, I'm going to buy a player, I've been researching some, but what would be a good recommendation for someone who is starting? would a hi-vision be a viable option?

I've been eyeing several posts of the forum, and I have preference to those of pioneer.

I'm sorry if the question sounds a little silly, but I'll be grateful for the advice.

Do you have a budget? Prices range from a couple of hundreds of dollars to a few thousand dollars. Hi-vision players are great but they are at least a thousand dollars. You also have to consider shipping to Brazil.

I recommend a fully working player that has been thoroughly tested, and acquiring it in way where you don't have to ship. This might sound snarky (not my intention) but as I have acquired more players I am of the belief that pretty much any working player is a good player at this point. I frequently just watch things on my CLD-2080 despite having some better players that are more finicky because it's a tank that has auto-flip. If you are in a location where shipping is basically required (might be, I have no idea about LD player availability in Brazil), I would pick the seller very carefully. You want to buy from someone that has safely shipped many LD players before.

thank you so much for answering me substance! <3

Yes, because the players are much more expensive than the discs, I started the collection of discs first but always joining for the player.

In Brazil buying internationally is common, so I'm already eyeing the outside market. Amazingly, the LD market in Brazil is quite large, although it has never been officially launched here, we have many collectors, and the prices of players are kind of similar to those of the dollar.

One of the models I've been watching, and that are from here is the Cld-97

I'll be very attentive when buying and checking about the other seller LD sales that have been secure. We always have to pack very well so as not to take any risk with the order, and in that case, it would have to be more careful. As I said in an answer above, the market here has a small variety of players, thanks to the collectors who brought it from outside, since it was not launched here in Brazil.

Gypsy says what I say, totally agree.
Working is number one period.

I would also look for a good single sided player, less mechanical.
But there are no parts for these players so be careful on buying what you do due to shipping.
Yes you can get the best player ever but you could also have a door stop, I only say this due to no parts and also have you ever seen an LD playing before???
If yes OK, if no take it easy, you may not like the image, I am happy with the LD image but I've had it for so long that I know what to expect.

LD isn't like vinyl to CD.

hi rein-o! *

The problem of parts is a risk to take and I will be attentive to their condition, and the less mechanical seem to be the best option, (Not just having it, but having the experience with LD).

I've seen him play before, yes! And I understand what you're telling me, really this difference in the image between every technology where ''each is one is each'', but LD makes my eyes shine :D

I would suggest not getting into LD at all.

Best player is a working laserdisc player son.
After that the best player is the back up player.
My advice to someone 'new to the world of laserdisc'

understand what you meant and thank you for your advice <3

It would be much easier to follow what you said yourself, but the clear risks and dangers with the ''old technology'' is not something new, since I always liked to have things like this :'')))

anyway i thank <3

While I sort of agree with this.

You have to know that zeta may have had LD as long as I have, I've had LD experience since 1989
and will always keep LD in my house but can't see doing it today.

I have said a few years ago if I didn't have LD I doubt I would keep it that long.
Since I feel I'm a diehard fan of things like anime I will keep LD but as the years go on I wonder sometimes why I keep
it around when I can get or enjoy all the films I like for free or buy on DVD for a buck at thrift stores, much cheaper than LD.

Before ebay came around the collection of LDs that my family, or more my father and myself accumulated was around
50 titles.

I think that now if I could stomach dumping some of my LDs I would tighten the collection to around 80-100 but it would never
happen and I think most in the collection should be around 200, and I would much rather spend that 10-20 on a DVD than an LD
unless its anime then I could spend if its a title I've been looking for for a long time.
